Episode 659: "A Horrible Past! The Secret Of Dressrosa!"
A secret more astounding than the toy soldier being Rebecca's father!
A flashback episode for the majority where we learn the truth behind the incident that besmirched the name of the Riku Royal Family. And it is indeed a terrible tragedy made all the more vile by us learning how happy a country Dressrosa was before: Never involved in a war, the citizens not prosperous but always in a helpful and generous spirit with King Riku and his army watching over it. Certainly was a country that every real-life country should strive to be.
But everything changed when the fire nation, uhm, Doflamingo attacked. With precision befitting a devil, Doflamingo offered King Riku a chance to buy the country off of him, the rightful ruler of Dressrosa, and King Riku set everything in motion to collect the money from his citizens who trusted him with it. Then, Doflamingo took control of the kind and his army with his String-String Power and caused them to slaughter the innocent citizens and set the country ablaze in a really chilly and disturbing series of events. I mentioned in the last filler arc how horrible it would be for me to be controlled while still conscious and witnessing the acts committed...and this further proves my point, seeing King Riku absolutely mortified to not be able to stop his actions and begging for someone to kill him so that he would not be hurting any more innocent citizens. Definitely among the more chilling episodes of the show.
A good episode for the high drama presented here and we will probably see the conclusion next time.
Manga Differences: -We actually see Bartolomeo meeting with Luffy and starting to lead him to where Zoro is (while still being such a big fangirl for him) which we do not see in the manga. -Otherwise, the usual scene extensions.
Another break tomorrow for Manga Volume 75 so see you on Tuesday!

Episode 660: "A Nightmare! The Tragic Night Of Dressrosa!"
Yep, it is definitely one of the grimmest sights in the whole show so far. Not even worth a witty opening line.
And so the horrible night continues with King Riku and his army being forced to cut up and kill the citizens of Dressrosa with the citizens' sentiments (understandably) shifting from love to hatred towards King Riku and wishing for someone to vanquish this "terrible" king. Have to say, the episode really pulls no punches in showing citizens being sliced left and right with the people in dark tones while the fiery red of the houses burning alights the scenery. Even more heartbreaking is seeing King Riku being completely mortified having to be conscious and helpless while Doflamingo pulls him along like a puppet on strings. Interspersed with scenes of happier days, it really makes you feel anger towards Doflamingo for doing this to him. Meanwhile, Doflamingo's family takes over the palace, assisted by Monet, where we also learn that Violet from Doflamingo's army is actually the former princess of Dressrosa, Viola.
Thus, the flashback portion concludes with Doflamingo having taken over Dressrosa, King Riku in hiding and Viola, in order to ensure her father's safety, becoming a member of Doflamingo's family. That whole story moves Franky to tears, of course, while even Robin is...peeved at Doflamingo's cruelty. One of the few fun moments in this episode comes with the Straw Hats reactions to the reason for the King Riku Army to take up the fight today which they were the inadvertant reason for.
Otherwise, we get to see first hand how quickly people get forgotten when turned into toys with Don Chinjao forgetting that he has grandsons. Definitely a terrifying power. Hopefully, the Straw Hats can do something about it.
Another good dramatic episode.
Manga Differences: -Nothing notable besides the usual scene extensions.

Episode 661: "A Showdown Between The Warlords! Law vs. Doflamingo!"
Looks like Law needs an energy drink for his power or something.
As the episode title suggests, this episode features the bout between the bird man and the surgeon of death. It is a fairly spectacular fight with Doflamingo not being deterred by Law's frequent change of the surround environments and putting him to his limit but Law not giving up. It also appears that Law's OP-OP power is not OP as advertised but has a certain limit to it considering he starts having trouble using his Room ability. As comes natural to that, Law gets overpowered and beaten with hints that there must have been something pretty terrible 13 years ago...but what?
In other scenes, Bellamy, who was ordered to assassinate Luffy to become an executive of the Doflamingo family, appears to not be a bullying jerk fully, as he actually cannot go through with it due to Luffy encouraging him during his fight. A wise choice as it turns out since one of the fighting members, Dellinger (not related in any form to Doug Dellinger) attacks him and crushes his heart by telling him that they never intended to make him an executive even if he had succeeded in assassinating Luffy. Dellinger is a real annoying piece of shit, granted not as annoying as previous enemies like Wanze, but still so annoying that I hope somebody beats him to a bloody pulp.
Finally, the Straw Hat Crew gets into contact with each other to plan what to do next. And Franky shows some awesome force by wanting to help the Tontatta People fight Doflamingo, even doing it without Luffy's agreement. But as we know, Luffy is not much of an authoritative captain and more of a compassionate captain and, thus, allows Franky to go as wild as he can while Sanji orders the Sunny to return back to Dressrosa. But suddenly Doflamingo and the badly hurt Law come crashing in with Doflamingo ultimately shooting Law at point blank range. Is this the untimely end of Law? And who is Cora-san?
Another good episode here.
Manga Differences: -The battle between Law and Doflamingo is entirely anime-only material. Originally after Law made the promise that he will get back at Doflamingo for what happened 13 years ago, we don't see them again until they crash down in front of the colosseum. -Bellamy hesitating and stopping his assassination attempt is also anime filler. Originally, he was going to go through with his plan when Dellinger came up to him. -Otherwise, the usual scene extensions.
See y'all...later today!

Episode 662: "Two Great Rivals Meet Each Other! Straw Hat And Heavenly Demon!"
I dunno if I should get hungry or scared shitless at the sight of Big Mom's ship.
But first, we get the epic meeting of Luffy and Doflamingo that consists of...them just exchanging a few words. How disappointing. More interesting is Zoro facing off with Fujitora, even managing to overcome the latter's gravity powers to deal a blow that he can barely dodge. Kin'emon on the other hand proves to be no match for Doflamingo and gets taken out easily, letting Law get abducted by Doflamingo who seems to have struck a deal with Fujitora. What is that about?
In the meantime, 2 of the 3 Straw Hat groups have their own problems to contend with (and Usopp is probably happy to be in the relative safety of the King Riku Army hideout): Luffy, Zoro and Kin'emon have the marines on their tails while the Sunny Security Crew have a ship from Big Mom on their tails captained by the adorable lion and the egg-shaped gentleman we met on the Fishman Island. Not exactly time to form a plan but Nami takes the initiative and makes the decision that they will follow Law's order to bring Caesar to Zou while the others will rescue him and destroy the factory. So the straw hats will go their separated ways for the time being but their reactions show that unlike two years ago, they are not afraid to be separated but confident (with Sanji even going so far as to attack Big Mom's ship with the go-ahead of his captain). Definitely shows their growth.
Now all that's left is to get Luffy out of the colosseum. But who is that mysterious shadowy figure that gets highlighted on at the end? Questions over questions.
A further good episode.
Manga Differences: -Nothing that notable besides the usual scene extensions.
See you tomorrow!

Episode 663: "Luffy Astonished! The Man Who Inherits Ace's Will!"
Oh my god! I never thought I would see this character again but I am pleasently surprised...I mean, Koala grew up to be quite a cutie pie and she is still involved with doing fishman-related stuff like being a fishman karate teacher? Awesome! I wish Arlong could see her and eat his words about her growing up to be just another fishman-hating human.
Oh yeah, another character shows up and although they try to keep his face hidden for the time being, you'd have to be blind as a bat or have the mental capacity of an acorn to not see this guy as being none other than Sabo, Luffy's other brother who was the first of the three to set out to sea only to be seemingly killed by a Celestial Dragon. I guess he survived and is doing underground work with Koala now for some reason. Have to say it is weird hearing him talk with a more adult voice compared to Naruto's VA voicing him but it is a rather fitting voice. And you can tell from Luffy's reaction how much this reunion means to him crying almost crying like Goku when he saw his grandpa again. Though I do wonder how Sabo helped Luffy escape the colosseum which we never find out. Hopefully, Sabo will do a good job replacing him as Lucy.
Meanwhile, Dellinger continues to be an annoying, cruel and smug piece of shit beating up Bellamy and I hoped he would break his ankle when kicking Bartolomeo's barrier. Never thought also that I'd see the day where I actually felt sympathy for Bellamy seeing him depressed like this after realising that the man he looked up to thinks so low of him. Luckily Bartolomeo manages to bring the awesome by protecting him.
Now that Luffy is outside and reunited with Zoro and Kin'emon, he can bust some ass on Doflamingo and his pals.
Another good episode in a row of them.
Manga Differences: -The confrontation Bellamy vs. Dellinger lasts a while longer in the anime while in the manga we only get to see the aftermath with Bellamy beaten up while being protected by Bartolomeo. -Otherwise, the usual scene extensions.
Until 'morrow!

A quick post here...
From here on out, this will be the only thread in all of FAN that I will post in.
I have strongly considered due to events in the past hours like FAN taking away something that has meant a lot for me for the past eight years and made me make my first real friends in life, to just say Hell to all and deleting my account on here.
But then I did not want to let this project here die that I have invested 2 years in now and that some people are reading at least be in vain. So I have made the decision to continue this project.
But I will never post in another FAN thread or open another FAN thread in all my time here and when One Piece finishes eventually, that will be it for me.
Last thing: I am not sorry about what I have posted in the past and think this a major overreaction by the moderation of this board and that will be all that I will say about this (and believe me, you don't want to know my thoughts right now on a certain mod).
Should the last sentence lead to the deletion or closing of this thread, then I am at least not the one to put this project here out to pasture.
That is all for now until I watch the next episode or this thread gets deleted/closed.

Sorry to see it come to an end this way. If you want to know why I am leaving the FAN threads, ask one of the mods.
