and Gillingham FC's season starts with a goaless draw.
Least we didn't lose I suppose.
Came dangerously close to relegation last year, can't be dealing with that again.

Decades are being taken away from my life every time Bayern play these black and yellow f****** in a cup final. I take it you're not a Dortmund fan then 😂 I don't hate them or anything like others of my ilk do but, these tit-for-tat matches with them will be what puts me in an early grave. I'd have thought buying off all their stars would quiet them down a bit but, they're like the Soviet army during WW2. When one goes down or defects, another takes their weapon and chugs along like nothing changed.

Also, another trophy for Arsene Wenger. He just keeps winning trophies when his job is most on the line. It's insane. I admire his resilience. Lesser men would have just said f*** it and left a while ago.
And considering how ugly and disrespectful some of the fans have been to him, I'm happy to see him continue to flourish. Even though I'm not his biggest fan because of how much he whines when things don't actually go his way.

Van Dijk hands in a transfer request. That's nice for him.

Had to happen. He wants to go, probably to Liverpool, but Southampton might sell him to someone else out of spite.

If Van Dijk is sold somewhere other than Liverpool after the disaster that was their first bid, that's another mark against Liverpool''s ownership. How many more failures like that could they take? FSG really haven't been the miracle workers they sold themselves as.

The Premier League should set up a transfer directory run by the FA. If a club wants to sign a player, they simply contact the directory which then contacts the club the player is currently with. Only after that point can transfer dealings begin. That would eliminate all the bollocks about tapping up. If an initial contact with a club or player doesn't go through the directory, it is defined as a violation of transfer policy.

Heard Chelsea might be interested in Van '6 year Contract' Dijk, but centre back is not a position they are short in. Maybe to set David Luiz free to play in midfield ?
In other news Saints have just bought Mario Lemina from Juve for a club record 18.1 million quid.
That's now two signings more than Tottenham have done.

Big news in the world of football, Helen Chamberlain is leaving Soccer AM after 22 years. The big news being that somehow Soccer AM is still on.

I've seen a lot of Liverpool fans complaining about Barcelona's interest unsettling Coutinho...obviously they haven't been concentrating on what their own club has been doing to Southampton virtually every season!

Selling on their best players is basically Southampton's business model, like all mid-level clubs. If Liverpool weren't buying their players, one of the other big clubs would be.

And Liverpool reject a £90m bid from Barca for Coutinho. Expect Barca to keep trying though.

It's just a reality of the game that when RM or Barca come calling, players tend to go. I'd be very surprised if Coutinho is still a Liverpool player by the end of the window. If he is, then I'd expect him to go next season.

It's that time, folks: Predictions
--
1. City 2. United 3. Spurs 4. Chelsea 5. Liverpool 6. Arsenal 7. Everton 8. Leicester 9. West Ham 10. Bournemouth 11. Southampton 12. Crystal Palace 13. Newcastle 14. WBA 15. Stoke 16. Swansea 17. Watford 18. Burnley 19. Huddersfield 20. Brighton
Player of the Year: Kevin De Bruyne
Young Player of the Year: Jordan Pickford
Golden Boot: Romelu Lukaku
First manager sacked: Mark Hughes
-- The reason why I'm not big on Chelsea is because this is a really small squad and a key injury could decimate them, especially considering they're back in Europe.
I'd rate Liverpool's chances higher if they were to lose to Hoffenheim.
Spurs being trash at Wembley is concerning, but I think they'll come around there. Still, they were undefeated at home last year, so if home form suffers, so will their chances to contend.
I'm not super confident about the relegated teams because I think quite a few will be in trouble at some point this season.

Chelsea or City for the title.
Liverpool, Spurs, Man Utd and Arsenal in any combination following that.
Spurs might struggle playing at that monstrosity that the FA demolished an iconic stadium to make way for.
UEFA should simply expand England's CL places to six, thus ending forever the boring debates over who's going to finish in the top four.
Everton will be Best Of The Rest.
I hate Mike Ashley, but I like Rafa Benitez, so I want Newcastle to survive. I also like Brighton, Huddersfield, and Bournemouth, so I hope they stay up.
I want Stoke and WBA to be relegated for sure. They are just too boring, along with any from Swansea, Southampton, Palace, Burnley, Watford and the other also-rans whose games Sky hate covering. I'm also sick of Leicester now. If they went down, I would be cool with that.
I don't like West Ham either and wouldn't mind them being relegated, but I find it too amusing to watch them play in that enormous Olympic Stadium where you need the Hubble Space Telescope to see the pitch.
You'll be hearing a lot of "(Overpaid, pampered, media-hyped English player) is playing for his place in (Gareth Southgate's doomed England squad) Russia next summer!" horseshit from the commentators this season.
I want Leeds to get promoted, along with Nottingham Forest. Neither will happen.
Celtic will win the Scots league by 67 points.
