Which "old-school" (I guess I view that as pre-attitude era) top-tier wrestler can be brought back for a Wrestlemania match that would be believable and people would actually pay to see?
The Rock is attitude. Even though Austin was around well before the attitude era, I count him as an attitude guy bc that was his peak. Michaels would be one, Nash to a lesser extent, and honestly...for one more match, maybe Hogan. He can't really move well, but still looks believable.
DDP peaked in the attitude era, Sid looked OKAY 5 years ago, probably much worse now. Sting didn't quite do it for me, just looks too old.

I would pay to see Tito Santana & Rick Martel finally just get it out of their system and beat the holy hell out of each other.

He's the reason (along with Lawler) that WWE won't put that generation in the ring any more.

Honestly, I don't think anybody. Sure, there's a guy like Scott Steiner, but would he really draw? I don't know, I think he'd create a buzz, but not like a Hogan or Rock.
It's 2017, and most of these guys were past their prime 15 or more years ago. Imagine trotting Bruno Sammartino out in 2000.

Bruno in 2017 would literally kill most of the roster, including Brock Lesnar.

This isn't Wrestlemania, but I really, really want to see Razor Ramon in the Royal Rumble. He can hit the Razor's Edge on a smaller guy, even. He seems to be in better shape than he was years ago, and if not, just keep the vest on the whole match.

I don't know if there's anyone that could, but I wouldn't want to see it. Hell, I don't want to see Attitude guys anymore. Double hell, I don't even want to see too many Ruthless Aggression guys these days.
They have such a great roster of current guys that they need to be focusing on so that people will think of them as legends in 20 years.

There's too much talent on the current roster to be dragging out the old guys for their third one last run.
Everybody complains nobody on the roster is a star, but would Austin have been the star he was if WWF kept dragging Hogan, Flair, etc. back and making him put them over? I doubt it.

The problem is that everyone is so athletic now, even the jobbers. It looks odd when someone beats up a guy twenty years younger and in much better shape.
Unless you're Heath Slater, who may be a genius.

Taker was pre-Attitude Era and he could maybe pull off one more match(if the hip surgery went really well) and get some people interested. Other than him I can't really think of anyone. Most of the big names from that era are dead(Warrior, Piper) or can't go at all anymore(Hogan).

The trouble I have is that everyone I can think of who could possibly both hold up their own end in the ring (within reason) AND draw money with the right program, would be such a health risk to put in the ring that I still wouldn't consider it i.e Lawler, Flair, Steamboat, etc...
Shawn Michaels is the only real answer here. He's pre-attitude era, could probably still go and is a generation younger than the aforementioned guys. But it would take something near perfect creatively to lure him back from what he's said in the past.

Maybe talk Inoki into doing a match with Nakamura or Itami?
