I actually like shopping on Black Friday. You can get some good deals on DVDs. I didn't buy any of the big items (TVs, DVD players), which is what almost everybody in line is getting. I don't get it. Every year they have some crappy DVD player for like 18.99 and people are grabbing like 5 of them for cheap XMas gifts.
Oh well, I went to Meijer and got a blender and My Name is Earl. It was cool since the sales weren't suppose to start until 5am but I was out of the store by 4:30.
Went to Circuit City and got the Little Mermaid for like 4 bucks (love free gift cards you get for buying things), but oddly that was the longest time I was in a store at all this morning (like over a half hour, most of it in line)
Then to Target who opened at 6 to get Batman Begins, X3 and Barry Manilow cd (this and the Mermaid were the only actual gifts I bought today).
I was done by 6:30 and spent less than 50 bucks

Battlefield 2142 was half off on Best Buy. But I'm not about to risk my life by going to Best Buy, Actually the BB by me was pretty empty...Circuit City, on the other hand, had effing TENTS set up. Best Buy> Circuit City. As for what I got, nothing yet. I'm broke and haven't left the house anyway...so I suppose there will be nothing left in the entire state of Washington as soon as I venture out. ;D

MTV.com's store had the Beavis and Butthead boxsets for $5.99, so I picked up the last one. I only left the house to go to Sears and help my mom pick up her new exercise bike. She was at the mall at 5-6am and said it wasn't crowded at all. From what I saw driving to Sears, it looks like Black Friday is only a kinda-busy Saturday during the holidays. I just went over and bought all three box sets. Great deal! I got all three plus an extra of the third for my brother and a poster all for the price of one box set. It's still available people so take advantage. Best Buy has The Office Season One on sale too for ten bucks I think.

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving that most stores finally get out of the red (losing money) and into the black (turning a profit). I got 5 gallons of gas and a hamburger.

I got more overtime at the mall, as I was scheduled to work 11pm-730am & I wound up working 11pm-1145am.
Then I got ice cream at Carvel. Afterwards, I figured, "WTF. I'm at the mall, let's Christmas shop." So I went into Kay B Toys & spent 130 bucks on my daughter & got her some wrestling figures (yes, she wants them...they're on her list), a couple of cars from cars, & some Backyardigan's toys.
I got her the Triple H, John Cena, & Edge 3-pack, RVD, Carlito, Booker T, Undertaker, & Ric Flair. Plus she wanted the Wrestlemania 2 steel cage ring, so I got her that, too.

Circuit City: Ray for $6. Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers, Platoon, and Field of Dreams for $4 each. Target: Batman Begins and Spiderman 2 for $4 each. I don't think I can stomach my local Circuit City again next year. Where to begin?: 1) I waited in line for an hour and a half in a line of 15 PEOPLE. Yeah, it actually took them that long. 2) Their receipt printers were most likely made by Johannes Gutenberg because it took about 30 seconds to print a receipt. Ben Franklin's ghost could've dragged his movable type up in that mofo and printed receipts faster. 3) One woman ahead of me was buying a Nintendo DS for her kid, and she was planning to buy an accessory kit with it that was advertised as being discounted when you bought it with the system. When the cashier looked at the kit, she said that that discount only applied for the first so many DS's sold and that her kit would be full price. The woman said, "That's okay, then. I don't want it." The cashier took this to mean that she didn't want the DS, and had some guy take it back to the shelf; this was despite the fact that she'd been waiting 1.5 hours to buy it, and it was the last one in stock. It took the guy at least 5 more minutes to come back with the DS. 4) Another woman ahead of me was doing her X-Mas shopping, and after scanning about half her items, the cashier told her that because of the crowds, the store had imposed an item limit. This meant that she was expected to go through the line a SECOND TIME, ON BLACK FRIDAY, FOR ITEMS SHE HAD ALREADY PICKED UP. 5) The cashier was trying to take a 70-dollar discount off a 400-dollar item, which prompted her to ask another nearby employee, "What's $70 off of 400?" Okay, I'm bad at math, but if you're in what appears to be your early twenties and you can't figure out 400 - 70 in your head, you should not be employed at a store (and arguably at all). Things are further complicated and made even more inefficient by the fact that this particular Circuit City has registers in each area of the store (like a department store) instead of general checkout lines. All in all, I'd say that the store's staff and computers had the efficiency of a gravedigger with a garden trowel. *If you work for Circuit City, I don't mean to offend here. I am just describing today's experience with my local Circuit City store.* Target, I was in-and-out-of in 15 minutes. Good job, Target. So yeah, CC was terrible, but I did get a total of 7 movies for about $30. Can't complain much about that.
