I remember when Jay Leno was advertising himself as "#1 In Late Night", David Letterman started advertising himself as "#3 In Late Night".

Yeah, Dominoes' self-hating marketing is definitely one of the boldest and more bizarre ad campaigns ever. Our pizza used to suck, our stores sucked, give us another try. I mean, alright, I guess that could work, but I've had Dominoes a few times since, and while I enjoyed my meal enough, I shudder to think how bad it once was. If your marketing is telling me "WE'RE GREAT NOW!" and you're just like, decent, I'm not going to care what your stores look like. I get it delivered anyway.

Triple M the "Blokes" radio station in Australia used to occasionally adjust their playlist and then make promos they not playing that crap anymore.

There is a soda in New England called Moxie that basically admits you'll hate the first sip, but will grow to appreciate the drink's unique taste:

WWE has done this numerous times, from the It Looked Good on Paper segment on a Raw anniversary show, to the Are You Serious web show. And WWE Magazine admitted that December to Dismember sucked.
Can't forget the commercial for Survivor Series 2003: "The WWE and football ... naaaah!" -- Vince McMahon.

Schlotzsky's deli ran commercials about how unusual their name was.

When I started finding it in glass bottles and drinking from them, I thought it tasted awesome.

I remember when Jay Leno was advertising himself as "#1 In Late Night", David Letterman started advertising himself as "#3 In Late Night". You could spend all day on Letterman making fun of himself. After his heart operation he spent months running fake CBS obituary ads about CBS believing he was dead. Even Seinfeld appeared on his first episode back saying "I thought you were dead??"

I don't know how much Sega's involved in the writing of Sonic Boom, but... You could also mention Sonic's Official Twitter too. Also that episode was pretty much making fun of Chris-Chan and the sonic fandom that tend to take sonic a little bit too serious to the point where it borderline creepy.

Go compare ads here in the UK.
Had some annoying Opera guy that people hated.
For awhile they had him getting beaten up for awhile.

Radioshack had that commercial making fun that their stores looked like the 80s still, had hulk Hogan in it, then at the end showed that their modernizing their stores.
Few months later radioshack filed for bankruptcy and like 90% of their stores closed.

Few months later radioshack filed for bankruptcy and like 90% of their stores closed. They spent all their remaining money on that commercial. Also, Sgt. Slaughter was in the commercial. It was a little weird seeing Hulk and Sarge side by side.

Now that I'm home here it is.
I feel like they really over exaggerated how out of date their stores were.

In 2008, Shreddies cereal ran an entire ad campaign which basically highlighted how their product hadn't changed since the 30's. They started Shreddies Diamond Shapes...
Lasted months. Campaign won awards.

In early 1997, Marvel released a humorous one-shot titled "Spider-Man: 101 Ways to End the Clone Saga." Marvel used to have a satirical comic called "What The?!". Darkhawk, The New Warriors (and this was while their books were still running!) and the Captain America movie were constantly used as punching bags.
