Dont they also know that a lot of the target audience will likely be getting new video games/systems and/or dvds this year and would rather play or watch those than watch RAW? Whats next, are they going to guilt-trip us into watching by having the roster sing "Do They Know It's Christmas"?

Christmastime is for the IIHF Under 21 tournament. Round up a bunch of teenagers, send them off to play hockey. If they are from Canada, anything less than gold labels them f***ing losers.

Well, I, for one, am not enthused about this, but I am curious as to how it would play off. I will say that I remembered that Raw aired on Christmas night back in 2000 and I went to bed early that night (Actually, I am sure that I crashed before Raw started). I later learned that it was taped. The other times were either "Year in Review" or a taped show like "Tribute To The Troops," which worked on Christmas night back in 2006. I remember after everything was done for the day, I tuned into that and it was actually fun after a long day. As for New Years, are you sure that the Raw that K-Fed pin Cena was taped in advance? I was not aware of that.

Everyone's blaming Vince, everyone's blaming USA, but in my narrative, it's all the locker room leader, the Big Dog, making the call and telling everyone they've got to work Christmas because THIS BUSINESS! And let's face facts, if WWE and USA were smart. they'd do a clip show on Christmas of nothing but Braun's matches this year, and they'd have their highest ratings in 20 years. Roman is one of the ones I mentioned that has family as well, though. I doubt he's any happier about this than the Hardy wives are.

I get Christmas (though I think there is a giant generalization in this thread that everybody has a family they want to be around during the time) but why is working New Years eve such a big deal? Other than the close proximity to Christmas.

Essentially, from what has been said here, USA can't make a ratings hit to save their lives It might help if they'd get back to what made them so successful to begin with. Shit like Monk and Psych was quirky in-one-ear-out-the-other fun, while your current USA line-up is shit advertised like, "Angry lawyers yell the name Harvey back and forth at each other," Good old Suits, it did good ratings for awhile there. In season 1 everybody was likeable with the exception of Louis, but he was being set up as a villain. In season 2, they expanded on Louis's character and wound up making him likeable, and for some reason the last few seasons, they've dropped a bomb on the show and made all of the main characters with the exceptions of Louis and Rachel, unlikable.

The Christmas Day episode could possibly get the lowest rating in the history of RAW. Don't get why USA would think a live RAW would be a good idea on Christmas. The New Years one is just stupid because they will be going head to head with the College Football Playoff Semifinal games. I'll just do what I normally do on Mondays during these RAW episodes, watch them either later that night on the DVR or watch it the next day.

I've had to work both before, but I'm eh about holidays. Still...between a small audience, meh ratings, and possible disgruntled employees and wrestlers, I ain't expecting too much from either episode

DNR most of this, so I apologize for this already being said. I don't think this is a big of a deal as many of your are thinking.
As a Catholic, I'm morally opposed to the thought that ANYONE has to work on Christmas. Pragmatically, however, consider all the first-responders, occupations that are on call 24/7, and others in this country who don't celebrate the holiday. (Hell, I unfortunately had to take a crap-ass minimum wage job where I have to work on Christmas!) If you want to make the equivalency to entertainers, many entertainers make the most money their make all year Christmastide. Think of all the holiday parties and get-togethers, churches, etc. who hire musicians and dancers to perform. Granted, the roster usually works 300/24/7, then again, so do plumbers who have to repair frozen burst pipes.

I'd pay good money to see Vince tell Brock that he has to work Christmas Day.

If it's a regular show, to hell with that.
If it's some weird show where they just drop the wrestling angles & regularity and go nuts for 3 hours with skits (comedic/drama/horror/etc) and other such nonsense, hell I'd watch that.
