Not exactly my favorite athlete, but the decline of Tiger Woods is quite saddening.

Peyton Manning. Thank God for Denver's defense and missing half of the season

Watching Reggie Miller's career fade away as The Pacers were so close (STUPID ARTEST) to a team capable of winning the championship was freakin heart breaking...I grew up in IL right in the middle of Jordan mania but Reggie stole my heart with his antics vs the Knicks and his trash talking

Michael Jordan gong from the (arguably) the greatest basketball player of all time to becoming the 6th man for a mediocre Wizards team This is just wrong. He was a legit MVP contender in 01-02 until he got hurt halfway through the year and still ended up putting up 23/5.5/5 and playing 35 minutes a game. Watching Jerry Rice struggle to get on the field his last 2-3 years was rough.

Brodeur had what ammounted to a goalie using all the tricks and vet savy to make a Cup finals run in 2012 to being an albatross hurting the team the next 2 years due to his legacy probably costing the Devils a playoff spot in 2014. Later playing for a cup of coffee in St. Louis for 10 games if that
Thou I do love the idea I can say he holds the record between wins and shutout differences between 2 teams he played for

That run of his during everyone's suspensions showed that he still could produce if you really needed him to, including dropping 39 on the Lakers.

I'm a big fan of Roberto Duran. The last 20 or so years of his career were pretty rough to watch knowing what he had once been.

Im a huge Tom Brady fan and its been rough watching him in the twilight of his career Dude plans on hanging on until he's 50. I don't think this is his swan song.

Ryan Howard's career after tearing his Achilles tendon was just brutal to sit through.

Tiger Woods (which we're still experiencing) Peyton's last season that he limped through Ken Griffey Jr, once he ruined his hamstrings, he was never the same

The day I saw Emmitt Smith take the field wearing an Arizona Cardinals jersey was perhaps my saddest day as a sports fan. Rick Reilly said it best when he described the red 22 to be blushing out of embarrassment.
Roy Jones, Jr's fall from his prime was sad in how fast it happened. In March, 2003, Jones moved up in weight to capture the heavyweight title. 14 months later he looked depleted and was a shell of the fighter he had been at his peak.

I wish I had the chance to see Barry Bonds decline. Instead he got blackballed because steroids and also he's an ass. Of course he got slower and wasn't exactly a good fielder his last few seasons, but he was still the most feared hitter In the game.
Chris Webber post microfracture knee injury was sad. Elbow jumpers all day long.
Matt Cain. Watched his whole career, starting as a 20-year old mega prospect callup. A perfect game. Multiple World Series wins. But then the arm injuries piled up, and he just couldn't do it anymore his last few seasons. Had to retire at only 31 after last season.

Joe Namath was never really a consistently great QB, but it's tough to watch game footage of Namath his last few years in the league. "Broadway Joe", the man behind the most important win in the history of football (and also the biggest upset after guaranteeing the victory) basically had to be wheelchaired out there by 1973. Supposedly he came into the league with bad knees/legs, and they just went out under him as the years went by.
He couldn't run from danger anymore, was completely helpless if the pocket collapsed, and couldn't even protect himself properly when tackled.
