This isn't a Zack Snyder movie Maybe we should demand the Snyder cut of every movie ever made. I'm sure the jackass who decided the world needed a grimdark, humourless Shazam has got the time to Snyderize other movies.

This f***in’ movie. I fully expect them to finally announce it’s dropping on Disney+, at the Comic-Con @ Home panel. I don't think they have the rights. I think that's why this movie has been in limbo the way it has. You have to believe, it would be a lot less hassle to drop this on Hulu or Disney+ if they could. Pretty sure I read somewhere that Fox and HBO had a deal not unlike the Marvel/Netflix deal, and Dark Phoenix being on there now kinda affirms that rumor.

From what I understand part of the deal is that the movie has to be released theatrically.

So they'll send a guaranteed hit like Hamilton straight to Disney+, but a guaranteed flop like New Mutants stays theatrical. Okay.

Speculation is they're contractually obligated to release it theatrically. There really is no logical reason otherwise. Certainly not financial, since the movie's so old at this point the costs of making it will have long since been consigned to a prior financial year. Its not as if they're even spending a whole heap on promoting it now, either.

Apparently they're still committing to the August 28th date for this thing. Which seems like a pretty terrible idea - I think the line of thought is, "Just send it to die," but I can see people being dumb enough to go to the theater to see it given it's certainly the biggest thing released since Sonic.

Since no one wants to see it, it would be an easy social-distancing-theater flick?

I'd go see it, I always see movies at like 10:30 on a Wednesday night or like that so there's almost no one in the theater anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did a quick release in a very limited number of theaters in locations where theaters are open with capacity restrictions and call it a day. I think with capacity restrictions and masks, there's at least a shot of it being safe. Not saying it's ideal, but my bet is they do that and then it's on Disney + by October.

I fully expect a contractually obligated WWE style release... where it's in like 10 theaters for a day.

Tickets go on sale on the 18th.
In other news, pigs have been seen flying, snow is falling in Hell, and Vince McMahon admitted it was not good shit.

This guy makes it sound... pretty damn bland.... what a way to end the original run of X-men movies... that started on such a high note...
