Can we just keep the cast and have Disney completely redo this?

So can somebody explain to me the business reasoning behind straight up not releasing this? I mean, from what I understand the movies done and ready to go. Why not give it a theatrical release just to try to recoup some of your money? A version of the movie is done. It reportedly needs several weeks worth of pickups and reshoots to create something the studio feels is worth releasing. If they release it theatrically they'll have to spend tens of millions of dollars just to advertise and distribute it - even a limited release nowadays costs upwards of $40 million - and they quite evidently don't have any confidence that it will even make that back, never mind the original production budget and reshoot budget. Releasing it direct to streaming effectively eliminates advertising and distribution costs and minimises loss. Put it this way, Fox executives are already making excuses for Dark Phoenix, that the Disney takeover and knowledge that Marvel will reboot the X-Men movies will kill the box office, and they at least had confidence enough to release that.

At this rate, they're probably better off making it one of the special features on the DVD of Dark Phoenix.

It'll go in the vault between Song of the South and the Gen13 movie. As soon as you said this I thought "so Buena Vista/Touchstone signed to make that movie before Jim sold WildStorm to DC and it was finished after the sale"... It's like Disney wanted to make a movie that only Walt's frozen head would enjoy.

It'll go in the vault between Song of the South and the Gen13 movie. Didn't the Gen13 movie get a home video release in Europe?

Theatrical release confirmed. Looks like they're shooting for a mid-year release, perhaps the planned early August release date. They might wanna get on those reshoots sooner rather than later.

New Mutants now comes out on Final Four weekend, which also means it comes out the week after Disney's Mulan remake which will be more marketed then New Mutants, to make matters, it now comes out five days before the potential swan song of Daniel Craig as James Bond aka Bond 25, new mutants is going to be overshadowed at the box office, has last month's final four affected the box office?

I just don't believe that anyone with a brain could have possibly looked at Apocalypse and been like, "This is fine, we should stay the course!"

Uh oh, this is really gonna lead Disney to reimagine Fox in their image, isn't it? Forget what's considered appropriate, that they aren't impressed with Fox's performance is going to make them double down on Disneyfying that arm of their corporation. That and them kinda preparing us for a PG-13 Deadpool is making me wonder.

Pretty much gave up after the first 80 delays.
Only thing I hate about this is that I really wanted to Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik because who knows if that character will ever get into the MCU anytime soon if ever.

So it appears not only Disney remain unimpressed with the film, they have absolutely no faith in it's box office performance potential. A shame. Now if only Disney had some other avenue to release this......perhaps a streaming service of some kind..........or even some sort of Disney channel........
