Never forget though that Michael Keaton is still the best Batman there ever was. It goes West > Kilmer > Keaton > Bale > Clooney. Kilmer, really? He did the best he could with what they gave him, but he wasn't a very good Batman at all.

I've realized Kilmer was a fine Batman especially given the circumstances of working opposite Jim Carrey. He had his corny moments like "I'll get drive-thru" but he was like the happy medium of Clooney's nonchalance and Keaton's intimidation factor

Reports are indicating that Mark Strong is in talks to play Doctor Sivana for the movie. comicbook.com/dc/2017/11/02/mark-strong-reportedly-in-talks-to-play-dr-sivana-in-shazam-/Doesn't necessarily mean Rock isn't involved as a New 52 story had Doc trying to use Black Adam's magic. but he has a much longer history in comics being a mad scientist that Big Business and the like blocked his inventions from being released to the public, causing him to grow to hate people and moved to Venus... because comics.

I love Mark Strong to absolute bits. I don't like this. You need someone a bit more...I don't know, cooky and elaborate. Someone who looks like he needs backup all the time. I'd pay all the money I have for Willem Defoe to be Mr. Sivana.

Even if he hits the weights and looks like he was carved out of granite, he's still going to look like a child next to The Rock. Maybe that's what they're aiming for anyway?

Looking at some of Gary Frank’s New 52 Shazam art (from the backup series that ran in JL), I will say that I think they’ve been planning this. There are several shots of Sivana that look just like Mark Strong.
(Not shocking, since Johns - who wrote those Shazam stories - and Strong became pals when they were working on the Green Lantern movie.)

The more I hear of this the worse it sounds.
Seems when it come to the live action movies DC/WB are still clown shoes

I am betting this is new 52 Sivana who gets hit by Black Adam's lightning and suddenly can see magic and such....
because the New 52 was received so so well.

I don't remember Savana shooting lightning out of his hands or flying. While I enjoyed the New 52 Shazam story, it's not one I'd like to see an adaption of. There's a reason DC is still apologising for the New 52, Granted it had some good stuff but overall it was a bust

What?!!? Josh Dallas was in Thor 1? How did I miss that? Now on one hand, Gal Gadot was called too small and she did all right. On the other hand is Topher Grace, Brandon Routh... Honestly I'm actually shocked on how many of the big jacked actors are actually pretty small 205lb and under dudes. All that movie lightning and shooting the shirtless scenes where the actor is purposely dehydrated with a pump making them look like heavy weights. Like most of the fit skinny actors are just guys who eat healthy and do plenty of cardio and some light weight work. When they get jacked it's just a shit ton of clean eating, powders, and lifting heavier weights doing heavier exercises. The diets and exercises are just more exagerated because have to put on tons of weight in a small amount of time and lose it for the next movie role. Like Zachary Taylor getting jacked like Chris Evans or Hemsworth in a shirt period of time is easy, getting big like The Rock or Arnie is flatout impossible unless you have god tier genetics and roids. It’s super rare to get an Arnold/The Rock combination of superhuman genetics and acting chops (such as they are). I think the casting will be fine for anyone who approaches the film on its own merits rather than being “nope, not muscular enough, sucks.”

On a side note: do they intend to use the Rock anytime soon or have they just WCW'd him - sign him to a contract just so that Marvel can't have him??

Rock has actually been attached to star as Black Adam since 2003, first with the aborted New Line Cinema adaptation of Shazam!, then this version before the character was dropped, and finally the Black Adam movie, which at present has just Rock and a writer attached to it. Either he really wants that role, or WB have slipped on some golden handcuffs to make sure nobody else has him.

Mark Strong, who revealed in November he was in talks for this movie, has confirmed that he'll be playing Dr. Sivana. www.syfy.com/syfywire/mark-strong-confirms-doctor-sivana-role-shazamIIRC, the New 52 version of Sivana (by Johns & Frank) used him as the visual template, so I'm guessing Johns & Strong's good relationship formed making that GL movie lives on.

You could cast Mark Strong as Mister Tawkey Tawney for all I care and he’d probably kill it because he’s Mark Strong, damnit!

Never mind all that, who is voicing Mr. Mind? Maurice LaMarche or I riot. (And Rob Paulsen as Tawky Tawny - for their inevitable "WTF are we doing in a motion picture?" meeting - or I riot but I prepared not to because that's an incredible dream far too impossible to come true.)
