So Power Struggle is done and now we're 2 months from the biggest New Japan card of the year and most of the title matches are set.
We have:
IWPG World Heavyweight Championship: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs Tetsuya Naito
IWGP US Championship: Kenny Omega (c) vs Chris Jericho with No Disqualifications
IWGP Intercontinental Championship: Hiroshi Tanahashi (c) vs Jay White
IWGP JR Heavyweight Championship: Marty Scurll (c) vs Will Ospreay vs KUSHIDA vs Hiromu Takahashi
IWGP JR Tag Championship: Roppongi 3k (c) vs The Young Bucks
Cody vs Kota Ibushi
NEVER Openweight Championship: Minoru Suzuki (c) vs Hirooki Goto. Hair vs hair and seconds are banned from ringside.
IWPG Heavyweight Tag Championship: Killer Elite Squad (c) vs Evil & Sanada
NEVER Openweight 6-man Tag Championship Gauntlet Match: Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga & Leo Tonga (Bullet Club) (c) vs Ryusuke Tagachi, Juice Robinson & Togo Makabe vs Beretta, Toru Yano & Tomohiro Ishii (Chaos) vs Hanson, Raymond Rowe & Michael Elgin vs Taichi, Takashi Iizuka & Zach Sabre Jr (Suzuki-Gun)
Pre Show: New Japan Rumble
So, what do you think of the card so far? What matches do you want to see added (I thought they teased Cody vs Makabe, which, ugh, and Ibushi should have a big match). Who does Suzuki defend against and will be it awesome or the drizzling shits all Suzuki's matches this year? How big a crowd can they draw to the Tokyo Dome?
Must admit it's the Main event and the JR matches that are really getting me hyped. Okada/Naito should be amazing, Takahashi is gonna tear the house down and I like R3k a lot. I only know Jay White by name and judging only by his appearance today, I'm not feeling him in such a big role. I don't dig the look and he doesn't feel like a star to me. But we'll see, I didn't get Naito until the G1 climax finals. Omega vs Jericho should be quite a spectacle. It's not going to match Omega's matches with Okada, Naito or Ishii, but damn it feels like such a big deal! I'm really hoping Ibushi, Ishii and Nagata get big matches as well after the incredible years they've had.

The World Tag League which starts in two weeks will decide who faces K.E.S
Like last year, there'll be a gauntlet for the NEVER Trios most likely.

Might crack and get tickets for this. Naito doing the winning call in the dome is sweet enough, but Jericho should be a spectacle.

Cody challenged Ibushi for the show. Not sure if the ROH title is on the line:

Cody challenged Ibushi for the show. Not sure if the ROH title is on the line: I seriously hope not. Unless Ibushi gets it, otherwise he's putting 100000% effort to get a barely passable match out of Cody for nothing.

Is NJPW world still online only or have they come out with an app?

Naito/Okada already made this a must see show, Omega vs Jericho just sweetens the pot

This is going to be something special.
I'm glad that I can't predict what they'll do yet with the NEVER title or the heavyweight tag straps. WTL is pretty wide open this year, and I'd love for there to be a surprising challenger to Suzuki.

Maybe an outsider, someone from ROH perhaps.

I don't care what people say, I'm digging Cody's current run. I'd be down for a match with either Ibushi or Makabe.

Cody vs. Ibushi for the ROH Championship is official for the show. If Cody loses the title prior to the event, the match will still take place as a special attraction.
My Japanese is so-so right now, but I believe the WTL was mentioned as choosing the tag title challengers for WK12 as well.

The World Tag League and Young Lion Cup will be some good stuff to hold us over for the time being. Don't really know who will win WTL, just hoping it's not G.O.D., would like to see something different. As far as Suzuki goes, I have two guesses, Ishii, since Suzuki has been fighting against CHAOS or Juice going back to the G1.

The match I want with Suzuki is him vs. Ishii. Leave the jobbers in the back and let these guys crush each other. It would be one of the better matches on the card.
I will give NJPW this much: The Jericho thing will build interest in North America in a way that I don't think this show would have going in. Omega/Ibushi would be a better match, but that along with Naito/Okada wouldn't really mean a ton to people who aren't already watching in America via either New Japan World or AXS.
The Jay White deal is quite bizarre. Does anyone give him a chance against Tanahashi right now? It's like this match is between a 7 time IWGP champ and current IC champ vs. a dude who was #466 in the PWI 500, haha. I mean White is better than that but it does seem like a jarring place to put the guy on a WK card when he's a mostly unproven talent. Is White with a faction or anything or is the Switchblade gimmick him being a loner, psycho heel? Because if he's in the Bullet Club I can already see that "Switchblade" style shirt in the BC vein. That said, it's kind of peculiar since compared to the other BC guys he's just bringing a knife to a gun fight.

They've been doing these Switchblade vignettes for months now, and he redebuted by laying out Tanahashi in the final segment of the last big show before WK. Add to that the fact that he got two pinfalls in his matches at the G1 Specials, and you can tell that New Japan see him as a potential star. I can't see them just jobbing him out to Tana in his first big singles match after all that.

For me this is Cody's last chance to make an impression on me. He had a pretty decent, but unmemorable match with friggin Okada. His Suzuki match sucked, though you can put that on Suzuki as well. But Ibushi literally had an amazing match with a blow up doll. Ibushi's record isn't spotless this year, (really didn't enjoy his g1 match with Makabe, but very few got a good one out of him), but his matches wi Tanahashi, Naito and Sabre have been outstanding. Cody I think has to try and raise his game and deliver here.
