So I learned this is a thing, Will Smith in a buddy cop movie with an orc. This doesn't sound like a movie, this sounds like a trailer in front of Tropic Thunder.

I love that the poster plays it entirely straight like it's not weird at all, though. That seems like the right kind of absurd.
That said, why do they write "from the director of Suicide Squad" like it's a good thing?

Been hearing about this for the last few months... looks like a D&D version of the 80's movie (and TV series) "Alien Nation". There was a table-top RPG game called "Shadowrun" which had magic and science, so maybe whoever wrote this was a fan.
And as crazy as the premise sounds... I think I'd like to see this.

That said, why do they write "from the director of Suicide Squad" like it's a good thing? I'd guess because Suicide Squad was really popular with a lot of young people and they think they could pull some of that audience.

Only Shadowrun is awesomesauce. Been playing Shadowrun Dragonfall Director's Cut and it's been one of the best RPGs I've played on the story and especially character part.

Looks pretty rad based on the trailers and actually comes off like something original (a rarity in the modern nonstop sequels/reboots/superhero adaptations Hollywood climate).
Ayer's a great director and Netflix is known for giving directors a lot of creative freedom.
I'm definitely down for this one.

I love that the poster plays it entirely straight like it's not weird at all, though. That seems like the right again of absurd. That said, why do they write "from the director of Suicide Squad" like it's a good thing? Critical evisceration aside, it's Ayer's biggest earning film by far - aside from earning nearly $800MM at the box office, it pulled in another $80-100MM on home video, though his body of work is filled with MUCH better though way less popular films Suicide Squad was definitely his most visible hit with movie goers and since its a Netflix exclusive, I'm sure they're hoping to get as many eyes on the product as possible (even if it means a film that was hated by critics) because Netflix doesn't have the same marketing power of a large movie studio - though they generally put out more interesting films.

The movie looks silly but intriguing. It's one of those films that the only way I wouldn't like it is if it's boring. If it's good, I'll like it. If it's bad, I'll like making fun of it.

It's basically a Shadowrun ripoff.

I ended up really feeling for the orc, and finding Will Smith intensely unlikable.

I'll give it this, though: I love this soundtrack. I just wish these songs could be in a better movie.
