I'm a little late with this but oh well.
1987
Cold open?!?
I've had a taped version of this since right after the show aired but mine starts in the middle of Monsoon and Ventura explaining the rules so I never knew how much I was missing til the Network.
Odd choices for the intro video. No footage of Strike Force or the Hart Foundation but clips of Jake Roberts, Demolition, the Islanders and Butch Reed
Gorilla completely forgets to mention the main event
Rule number 5 always confused me as a child. I also wonder why they bothered mentioning it if it didn't come into play.
It's amazing how every member of the team is talking simultaneously yet you can hear Honky Tonk clearly. Also interesting that only the captain got to speak here
Hercules looks coked out of his head
SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROLL YOU ELIZABETH!
I also really liked the members coming out to only one person's theme and then the captain getting his own entrance. Then again, only one other member even had an entrance theme.
Fink saying "'Outlaw' Ron Bass" with a shot of Danny Davis and then the reverse. Looks like the monkeys in the truck messed up.
Steamboat making stupid karate noises and looking constipated
Had they used the 1988 concept of "co-captains" then Duggan and Race could have easily been the respective co-captains.
It was shocking to me when years later I found out that Savage originally had Muraco and Junkyard Dog on his team. Muraco left to join Hogan's team to replace Billy Graham. I finally saw that they explained that Steamboat "begged" JYD for his spot.
The only shame about Steamboat's theme getting dubbed is it kills the crowd noise and Gorilla yelling "THIS PLACE IS COMING APART!" because the pops were pretty huge
Savage made sure to have EVERY color in his robe apparently
I have a feeling that no one really knew what to expect or do here. Beefcake going for his finisher so quick seems odd.
In my opinion, all 5 members of Savage's team deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.
Steamboat skinning more cats than a Chinese restaurant [/Bobby Heenan]
It's amazing how far Steamboat had fallen in less than a year.
Duggan and Race crushing a poor tech on the floor
Then Savage crushes the referee in the corner while setting up a move
Bass not only jobs to a high knee but then gets elbowed by his own partner.
Steamboat arguing with Dave Hebner on the outside for some reason
Beefcake was at the start of his face run but I guess they felt they didn't need to protect him by having him lose
Savage not even bothering to sell for Danny Davis really
Heels escaping the DDT was sometimes just as impactful as Jake hitting it
I always wondered why Hercules and Harley weren't on Andre's team. But I guess the whole Billy Graham/Butch Reed feud is what caused that swap to be needed.
Honky on the outside stares at Steamboat while he's about to chop him and doesn't bother moving
Steamboat with the assist to Savage to let him take out Hercules
One beef I have with the ending to this match is the commentary. Neither Moonson or Ventura mentions the fact that by some chance Honky Tonk was now stuck against the 3 guys that he had screwed over the most in the past year. They only put over the 3 on 1 aspect and not the story that's being told.
Monsoon just now mentions "payback time" over the Elizabeth angle but not hitting Jake with the guitar or stealing the IC title from Steamboat
A year prior to this Jake Roberts and Ricky Steamboat were in a bitter feud. Then Steamboat and Savage were in one. Now they're best friends!
Craige DeGeorge making it sound like Heenan and Slick were on the team
Rick Rude looks like he's about to kiss Butch Reed at one point
Butch Reed looks legitimately scared when Andre tells everyone to shut up
All the ladies get the jobber entrance. I've read some of the Observer Newsletters from this time and Dave didn't even know who was going to be in this match outside of a few. I'm guessing Vince just called every female wrestler he could til someone said yes.
Dawn Marie looks like a Rockin Robin palette swap. And Donna Christenello looks like an aunt of mine
Was Moolah's face turn ever explained on television? It just seemed like they turned Sherri heel and went "eh, just go with it."
Moolah about to shoot on Fink for saying her weight
Moolah even gets booed when she enters the match
Moolah and Monsoon were sweethearts back in '36. FACT
I wonder if now would be the time to bring back a Women's Tag title
Meanwhile Bret Hart was backstage not getting a boner over this match
Jesse Ventura marking out, bro
It's terrible to mention but I never noticed how big Judy Martin's rack was til a few months ago while watching an episode of Prime Time
Hey, a month later Moolah was at the Slammy's with Ted DiBiase, so did she turn heel again or what?
"These Glamour Girls aren't the tag team champions for nothing." Well actually they were since they were just handed the titles.
Moolah jobs to a clothesline
Velvet goes for a surfboard and gets into the ropes. The referee doesn't even bother breaking it up.
Sherri loved getting brought into the ring hardway
Sherri goes for a suplex and spikes Velvet right on her head. Ouch.
Timekeeper going into business for himself trying to end the match early with a phantom elimination on a Jumping Bomb Angel
This was the first time I ever saw the Giant Swing
Did Velvet ever get her match with Sherri after pinning her here?
Jimmy Hart took a hard bump for a manager. His ass must have been sore for days.
Johnny Valiant didn't even bother showing up for the interview segment. They had already taped matches with Valentine being managed by Jimmy Hart and Dino Bravo managed by Frenchy Martin
Jacques Rougeau awkwardly slapping hands with fans and B. Brian Blair looking like he's acknowledging someone are things that always stuck out in my mind
Valentine and Bravo didn't get the memo about wearing matching trunks
How did that Flying Forearm to Boris's huge head not break Santana's forearm?
Did Jacques EVER hit that no look high crossbody?
first Toma mention
It only takes two Toma mentions for Monsoon to correct Ventura. Oddly enough, he originally was known as Toma very briefly
Santana clearly was the weak link of Strike Force. It takes one elbow to the back of the head to eliminate him
Haku and Valentine with some tandem offense
now Ventura talks about "Romas and Power"
Davey Boy and Jim Powers headbutting Haku but not selling it. Extremely dumb since the "hard head" thing leads to an elimination later
I was just saying to myself that I can't believe we're on the 3rd match, it feels like the show just started. Now I feel like this match is dragging on a bit too long.
Valentine loved every variation of "reverse my figure four into a pin"
Brunzell eliminates Bret Hart and celebrates like he won the match
After the Hart Foundation leave all the heat in the match is on Bobby Heenan. It feels like all enthusiasm for the match went out the window.
Wow, they really could have shaved several minutes off of this here if there was only going to be one more elimination.
Bees and Stallions have a 2-man advantage yet still need to cheat to win
There's a huge obvious edit here to cut out the original throw to the intermission.
"I did my best!" - Some Stupid Child
I always thought Shawn's excited relative was Rerun from What's Happening
Is that Linda McMahon barking like a dog or someone who just looks a lot like her?
It's almost like they know Rob Van Dam would become a big deal and filmed that random house show spot because of it.
I was just going to comment on Jesse being a Rick Rude mark from day one. Then I remembered they were both from Minnesota and both trained by Eddie Sharkey.
It's amazing how long the last match went yet they still need a Honky Tonk Man interview to pad the show out.
Hogan constantly attacking Bigelow during the interview confused the hell out of me as a kid.
I do like them at least making note of how Orndorff wasn't exactly the most trustworthy person
Butch Reed jobbed out like a guy who was leaving the next day
The spot with Hogan "tagging" Patera is great and something that should be used more often
It's also funny how Ventura goes on and on about Joey Marella being a biased official and then it leads to a real crooked referee to finally get the title off Hogan
Ventura "I can barely hear you." Monsoon "I can't hear you, Jess" Ventura "Then how the f*** did you just comment on what I said? you liar!"
The ring is constantly shifting 8 inches. How did they ever keep it from hitting the crowd?
I think it's a shame that they didn't get Rick Rude a match on a Saturday Night's Main Event to really highlight him prior to this show
This match is in light speed compared to the others
At least they gave the fans what they wanted by having Hogan and Andre actually fight for a bit instead of constantly teasing it
Hell of a swerve having Hogan get eliminated instead of having him overcome the 3-1 odds
Wait, how did Fink know what the referees were going to do if Hogan didn't leave? They never told him! Shenanigans!
They really built a star in Bam Bam here by putting him over Bundy and Gang. He didn't have to steamroll them, he just had to be smarter than them. Sadly they didn't do anything else to really capitalize on this.
Andre heeling it up after the match is great. He doesn't look like a coward for leaving because Heenan is the one pulling him back.
Ventura threatens us by saying he's going to put on a shitty match with Hogan
"Mean Gene Okerlund has captured Andre the Giant!" Like with a giant net?
My copy of this PPV ends with Hogan posing. I never saw the post-match interview until the Network

The PPV actually didn't stop during the intermission at the building. After the 20-man tag, there was a merchandise plug, the Million Dollar Man video, and Jesse and Gorilla recapping what had happened so far. The Gorilla/Jesse part didn't air everywhere because before it started, Gorilla threw to "messages from your local cable system," (edited from the Network version), then said "We're back" (also edited) right before the HTM platform interview.

1988
This is a show I didn't see in ANY form until sometime in the mid-90s when a local mom and pop video store randomly had a copy and I decided to finally see the show. Hated how cut up the thing was though.
We don't even get a real intro, straight into action with the Beefcake Warriors!
Jim Brunzell showing that the Killer Bees were dead with his odd trunks
How'd they convince Bad News Brown to be on a team in the first place? There really was no one else that could have been on the team I guess.
I feel like this was one of the last times Jimmy Hart appeared with Danny Davis
Thanks for standing in for Don Muraco, Brunzell. See ya later. Check's in the mail.
Like it's pretty bad that Sam Houston outlasted Jim Brunzell. That's saying something.
Bad News would repeat this walk out spot next year thinking everyone would forget.
Blazer winds up injuring his groin on a leap frog and killed a lot of his momentum in the process
Kinda interesting that Beefcake and Honky Tonk are involved in the double countout when their feud was over. You would think Beefcake and Bass would get counted out.
Back to back double axehandles end the match. Wonder why Warrior didn't bother using his finisher.
"Coming up next, Jack....err Jess"
The Conquistadors look ridiculous with those extra hoods
Bulldogs look so weird here in blue, Davey hadn't gotten a haircut in a bit and Dynamite had facial hair
Wow, they actually let Dynamite in the ring with Jacques and Raymond.
You can sorta see the look of disappointment on Dynamite's face when he realizes the Rougeaus were the first ones eliminated. They told him they were going to be in at the end so Dynamite wouldn't f*** them up. Meanwhile they got them out and out of the building before the Bulldogs could do anything.
Nikolai hits his finisher on Shawn Michaels and doesn't go for the pin
Did Brain Busters vs. Bulldogs ever happen? That seems like a missed opportunity if not.
Clothesline City is a suburb of Suplex City
Boris Zhukov gets a pinfall? Finish your drinks!
Tully being scared of The Barbarian is pretty great
Demolition deserved to lose. Ax takes down Barbarian by himself and then tags in a Conquistador. Clearly throwing the match.
The Conquistadors looking like a million bucks only because they have to be there at the end
if Barbarian was an elephant would be be The Babarian?
Bret's shoulders were up during that three count. Shenanigans!
It is pretty funny how everyone else just sits and watches the Rockers and the Brain Busters attack each other instead of trying to keep their teammates from getting DQ'd
Pat Patterson, alone, manages to break them up in the aisle
Davey Boy deserved to lose after not pinning the Conquistador
It's pretty ridiculous now how much damage the Conquistadors have taken and they're still kicking out. They needed to speed this up.
Tag in Mr. Fuji!
Fuji holds open the rope but Smash dives through it on purpose!
Ax asking for time out like that's possible
Hitting Ax in the chest with the cane has no effect but hitting him in the back does
Crowd pops crazy for Demolition dropping Fuji
Hebner gets to 4, then stops and starts with 2, then he just kind of mimes a count. Conquistadors got screwed!
Sean Mooney with Bad News Brown, who has clearly not showered yet
It does seem silly for Fuji to dump the tag champions. He should have turned on them during a title match or something.
Mr. Fuji made Demolition work out, run, AND exercise
This shows how desperate they were for talent that they put Scott Casey on a PPV match and then Harley Race on the heel side even though he was going to have a slight babyface turn shortly.
I thought Hillbilly Jim had his horseshoe but he's just got Hercules chain wrapped around him.
I remember reading in WWF Magazine that Hogan chose Hillbilly Jim and Macho chose Koko B. Ware. Clearly they were both on drugs.
Ken Patera still morphing into Richard Simmons
This is a weird match because it feels like 2 weeks prior Duggan was feuding with Andre and Jake was feuding with Rick Rude. All of a sudden it was Andre/Jake and Duggan in a forgettable feud with Dino Bravo
"Don't have a robe? Better wear a t-shirt!"
"Stone Cold" Curt Hennig
Scott Casey lasted longer than Patera? Oof...
The babyface team doesn't even bother breaking up either pinfall
Andre seemed to enjoy bouncing Tito around
Andre gets tied in the ropes. He's happy.
Jake enters illegally and the referee isn't doing anything about it.
Dumbass Duggan screws over Jake and leaves him alone against 4 guys
See? They're even talking about the Rude/Roberts feud like it was still going on
It's a great ending here though since Andre chokes the hell out of Jake and he basically passes out and can't kick out
Ominous Green Bag would be a great name for a band
Weird how DiBiase is in the center while the actual captains are on the outside.
Also where's Akeem's hat? He's not Akeem without his hat!
Akeem found his hat!
Even as a Hogan fan, I hated the "Hulk Rules" shirt over the "Hulkamania" one
Savage and Hillbilly Jim run to rip Hogan's clothes off
Slick's cane always looked like a putter to me
Haku looks like he just kind of taped a crown to his leg instead of getting tights made
Looks like the airline lost Hogan's "Mega Powers" trunks
Just remember that Haku, Terry Taylor, Koko B. Ware, and Hillbilly Jim all main evented a WWF PPV
Even Jesse Ventura would cheapshot the Rooster
Heenan mad at Rooster but he was the one who put him in the match. He could have put him on the Andre team and put Rude in there!
Akeem had one of the nicest splashes
Gee, we have the biggest guy in the match in there, let's have Koko go after him!
I bet Dick Tracy would want Akeem's boots
Hogan hulks up mid-match. Hopefully he can charge another one for the finale.
Savage doing the same thing to DiBiase that DiBiase did to Hercules is actually a great spot
This is another match that could have easily been sped up. Too much stalling.
Hebner really pissed at Bossman raising his arms instead of going for a pin
Slick snatching Elizabeth
Bossman gets counted out. Bossman enters the match again with the night stick. Akeem is only DQ'd for pushing the ref. Makes sense.
Savage looking for Hogan in the corner when he's clearly been on the floor for 5 minutes
The camera completely misses Hogan taking out Heenan and then Elizabeth steals Slick's wallet
Hulkamania saves the world
And a hug breaks up two friends

Good stuff as usual.
And I didn't hear about JYD being slated for Team Savage. Nor Muraco. Don't think either had a beef with anyone else on Team HTM at the time...then again, neither did Brutus. (Duggan and Race was an issue, however)
It worked out for the best, as Team Savage had GREAT levels of storytelling, especially amongst the main three members. Savage tried to kill Steamboat just before 1987 started, of course. And Jake before that. Savage and Roberts did have that one match on SNME. Yet they hated the Honky Tonk Man enough that they HAD to join forces. It was made even better that the match ended with HTM alone against the three men he managed to piss off in '87, and him running away only further cemented the character he'd use in his I-C reign.
As such, this is one of my favorite all-time SurSer teams. You had what I just described, then Brutus and Duggan make it a solid midcarder team. From this show, Team Andre qualifies as well (decent backup muscle in Reed and Rude, then you must face the three monsters in Gang, Bundy, and Andre).

I always laugh my ass off at Moolah’s reaction to her weight being announced. Not sure why she was mad though, if anything Fink shaved a few pounds off already.

I definitely remember a podium interview with HTM where he's running down all the face team members and JYD was definitely mentioned. Don't know if he was just a placeholder or if there was a real intention of having him in the match as Steamboat I believe had been off TV for several months.

In reality Muraco was probably intended to be on Hogan's team a good bit before that as they had to know Graham wouldn't be able to go with how rough of shape he was in at that point. Jake, Beefcake, and Duggan were always slated to be the other members on Savage's team at least with how it was presented on TV. Unless I guess the OP saw something about Muraco being on the team in of those Observer Newsletters he mentions reading. I guess it's possible as Jake and Duggan were also MIA a good bit through the summer and into the fall (Jake due to a failed drug test and Duggan due to getting fired in May for the infamous Iron Sheik drug arrest in New Jersey).

If I had to make my own theory, let me ask...when did Bob Orton leave the company? I'd wonder if he was meant to be on HTM's team, which would make sense for Muraco to be there as they were former partners who were feuding. Don't know, as I said all this is news to me. Steamboat not being on that team would be like, well Daniel Bryan not being in Rumble 2014.

He's definitely around on TV through October as him and Muraco had their blow off match on Superstars around that time with Muraco going over. I guess it's possible he could've been penciled in at one point to on HTM's team instead of Ron Bass. Bass was always announced on TV as being part of the team but didn't have anything going on storyline wise, so it's possible they might have been planning to have Orton on the team instead as at least he had a storyline with the Muraco feud even though he was on his way out.

I misremembered the teams. Muraco being on Savage's team was definitely from the Observer and I thought I had seen it on an episode of Prime Time but probably didn't

1989
You would think Christmas would be a happier time for Hulkamaniacs than Thanksgiving
1988 to 1989 seems like a difference of 3 years. so many new faces and people looking way different
Duggan's team photo looks absolutely ridiculous
"AND THE EARTHQUAKE" and "AND BAD NEWS BROWN ALONG WITH THE RED ROOSTER" are so obviously late additions to the recording session
Jesse Ventura looks like he's puckering up to Gorilla
They should have at least explained where Akeem was. It wasn't like The Widowmaker where they weren't sure if he was coming back or not.
This show would have been really hard to book if all the matches were 5 on 5.
If it was, I'm guessing Boris Zhukov would have probably been on this team.
The roster was so thin though that they may have had to keep The Enforcers the same and force Akeem to hobble out injured and get counted out or something
Early Sapphire appearance with "polka dots and the whole schmear"
I got bored and fantasy booked this show with 5 on 5 matches. Had to cut it down to 4 matches to make it work. I'd put Rick Martel on the Rude's Brood and Tito on Roddy's Rowdies. I'd throw the Red Rooster on Warrior's team and add The Brooklyn Brawler to the Heenan Family team. He hadn't really been with Heenan for a bit by that point but they could have gotten away with it. Beefcake would join Hogan's team and then either Bad News or Honky Tonk would be on the Million $ Team. I sided with Honky since he actually was booked prior to the show and wasn't a replacement. Then I'd put Dusty with the rest of Duggan's team and Bossman with Savage's team and make it like a co-captain deal.
"Rooster doesn't have a clue where he is right now" Did he ever?
A southern cop with a confederate flag on his uniform just hit an African-American man from Harlem. How did this not spark a feud?
Beefcake finally gets a pinfall victory over Honky Tonk Man
Martel's boot laces were always obnoxious to me
Guess they must have had another house show loop left and needed Bossman to get some heat on Dusty or it would kill their feud
Only a few months later Bossman would be a huge babyface
At least the 4 X 4's got new boards for this. During some of their promos they were using at least one board that was broken in half
"Greg the Hammer Valentime!"
Monsoon claims Jimmy Hart had to pay off debts to get Earthquake into the match
Here come the real Marching Morons
I've lost track of how many times Earthquake squashed Hercules
I've read that Ronnie Garvin was brought in to replace Muraco in his feud with Valentine but they didn't even start feuding until after Wrestlemania so I'm not sure that makes sense
I wonder if Garvin and Valentine liked working with each other. Seemed like they were pretty stiff with some of those shots
"Get off my ass!" is one of Duggan's most famous catchphrases
It's amazing how Bret Hart seems so important in this match even though he was an on-again off-again tag team wrestler
I want a gif of Jimmy Hart and Sherri jumping up and down in circles
I guess they felt the need to protect Duggan even though losing 3-1 wouldn't really be that bad
Duggan gets some joy out of shoving Shane McMahon
Weird seeing The Genius get promo time and not just being with Mr. Perfect
Double weird having Hogan's match be in the middle of the show
For someone who was such a huge threat Zeus really had no direction. Slick brings him in, then all of a sudden he's with Macho Man, now DiBise, then back to Macho.
Even Zeus is afraid of snakes
Hogan/Zeus starts it off instead of keeping the enemies apart
"What kind of belt is that?" "A Zeus belt, it's got a Z on it."
Earl Hebner has no right to put his hands on Zeus. Then he DQ's him for shoving him instead of just the 5 count.
Ax got jobbed out pretty quickly here
Smash sounds like a pirate sometimes
I feel like Jake vs. Barbarian should have been a Saturday Night's Main Event match at some point
Hebner DQ's both Powers of Pain at the same time for some reason
I came home from school one day in early December of 1989 to see wrestling on in my parent's room, which meant my dad was copying something for me that he had gotten from a work friend. I saw Ted DiBiase wrestling Smash (his makeup was almost completely rubbed off) and assumed it was from this year's Survivor Series. I was shocked that the match came down to those 2 and that Hogan got eliminated. I ran off so I wouldn't spoil anything else for myself. Then I found out later it was actually the Survivor Series Showdown instead.
Hebner completely misses DiBiase's feet on the ropes. Man, he's a terrible referee.
Chosen by the scepter!
It's weird that I didn't know anything about the No Holds Barred PPV until after I saw the Coliseum Video version of this show
First time I watched this I thought Sherri shrugged her shoulders and that's where the powder came from
Raymond with a hell of a mullet and Rude with great tights
The turkey carcass is absolutely disgusting.
Kinda funny that Snuka would trust Piper after the coconut incident. Then again Jimmy had turned into some sort of dog anyway
Sometimes it's hard to not do the Bushwhacker strut when their music hits
Everyone gets to bite Mr. Perfect
I always hated Piper winning with random moves. I was happier when he just used the sleeper.
This turns into a heck of a house show era tag match
Piper and Rude would go on to do a series of cage matches on the house shows so they had to keep their heat
Lots of reversals here with Perfect and Snuka. Really underrated portion.
Team Neon is pumped
Bobby Heenan forgot his pants!
Andre on the floor looking like he fell 30 stories
Arn's facial expression after Andre is counted out is the MVP of this show
Haku basically doing all the work here
Heenan tells Haku not to tag him in when Warrior's in there
Heenan goes in, gets hit one time by Jannetty and runs out
I think Haku wasn't supposed to go for a pinfall after he kicked Jannetty. You can hear Heenan scream "no no no! kick out!" and then he goes in for the cheap pin after a few kicks and a knee drop. I think he was supposed to just go in and pin him.
"Four Wrestlers and a Weasel" coming soon to theaters near you
Shawn actually gets an elimination. Wow.
Monsoon calls the spinebuster the "Anderson Drop"
Bobby keeps attempting to go to the top rope and then doesn't do anything
OJ's other glove comes flying into the ring
I wonder if Heenan asked Warrior not to press slam him after he hurt him at Wrestlemania

1990
I have only seen this show twice. Once live on PPV and once when I first got the Network.
Boris Zhukov looks constipated in his picture. Originally it was Akeem on that team, which made less sense
Two years in a row where the World Champion's partner was the one feuding with the captain of the opposing team
Hartford is definitely not a suburb of Cleveland
No politics, Hot Rod
Wait a second, that's not Ax. That's Jake Bullet with makeup on!
"The idea here is to be a team." Thanks, Roddy
Warrior's makeup here is very KISS-like
"There's no medicine to cure what they have" so herpes?
I hope no kids ever attempted to cut electricity with a knife
Atomic Drop Party
Did Kerry ever win a match in the WWF with the Claw?
Warrior steamrolls over Ax
Two future nWo members on the Perfect Team
Also kinda depressing that Ax, Smash, and Animal are the only ones still alive
Smash lightly shoves the ref but Hawk just kicks the referee right in the dick. Somehow this means all 4 guys get DQ'd
Warrior kicks out of the Perfect Plex and then starts Warrioring Up
Warrior kicks off Perfect and he lands on the ref. Imagine if he had DQ'd Perfect for that.
Warrior doesn't use his gorilla press at all during this match
Dusty must have known he was leaving in a few months, he didn't bother with the polka dots
Neidhart's shower cap always looks ridiculous. So ridiculous it made me forget their stupid jackets.
Take a look at Boxcar
"Led by his manager...Brother Love" Me as a kid: Huh?
Vince in Gorilla and Roddy's ears: PUT HIM OVER HARDER! SAY SOMETHING ABOUT HIS FACE!
It looks like Koko is an honorary Hart Foundation member
I think Valentine should have switched to long tights while teaming with Honky so they'd match
"So long, Honky!" is Gorilla's Redd Foxx impression
Valentine lasts a really long time in this match for not really being an important piece of the puzzle
Undertaker gets counted out even though he's not even the legal man
This was kind of Bret's coming out party so to speak.
One of the earliest planchas that I can remember in the WWF.
Hart playing possum. I didn't know he was a Guerrero.
Virgil puts his hands on Bret and gets a 5 count instead of it being an immediate DQ
And Bret with a very obvious "F***" right into the camera
Jake Roberts wants to shower with his entire team
Funny how this would have been an All-Slick team if Martel and him had stayed together
The Plymouth Rockers
Kinda weird for Jake to come out first and Snuka to come out last
Warlord could have been the monster in Tusk
It seemed like all of Jake's feuds involved an opponent running from him one way or another
Jimmy Snuka and Koko B. Ware could have easily been flip flopped and it wouldn't have made a difference
Roma probably could have been Intercontinental champion if he wasn't a huge dick
I wonder if Hercules would have been taken more seriously if he tanned
"You cheap ass...oooh sorry!"
Power and Glory setting up for their finisher and Piper is making it seem like Michaels still has a chance
Hey, why wasn't Martel counted out like Undertaker was?
Fink basically whispering "Including the Model Rick Martel" is hilarious
I understand the meaning of the yellow ribbons on Duggan's board but it still looks too weird
Is Hulk Hogan one of those people who thinks that everyone HAS to like them? He was constantly making friends with people he had blood feuds with
Hogan: After this match, we're all gonna go and fight in the war! Tugboat: Whoa, um....yeah....speak for yourself, pal.
Tugboat IS an inspiration
Hogan's hair looks a little weird to me at the beginning of this match
Piper randomly turning heel by saying he doesn't like anyone in the match but he respects them
The Brain Trust would have been a good name for Heenan's stable
Haku got out of there fast so he could go fight an entire bar
The first time Earthquake put something on his singlet, I thought it was red and yellow just to mock Hulkamania
Duggan manages to screw up and get DQ'd AGAIN
Hogan isn't even mad
Dino Bravo fell so far down the ladder that he gets pinned by a Hogan small package
And then Bossman jobs to an elbow drop. We're in hypermode again.
"Hulkster the only one on his team now!" as Tugboat stands there wanting to cry
Not sure if people were making Tugboat sounds or booing Tugboat when he got in the ring
Hogan vs. Barbarian is another match that would have been on Saturday Night's Main Event
The problem with the Grand Finale thing is that it telegraphs the winners as the show goes on. You know Warrior isn't gonna be alone, so Hogan HAS to win here.
At least Barbarian gets the full Hogan finish
Hogan grabs a random fan's sign and then wipes his sweat all over it and gives it back to him. Gross.
At some point the Macho King was basically just the Macho Man again but they never bothered changing his name back. He had no crown or anything anymore. Except for that styrofoam scepter at the Rumble
Savage saying after he beats Warrior he may retire. Irony
Mean Gene looked like a lost old man grabbing Slaughter to interview him in the aisle
How much paint did they need to cover Boris' head?
Fink: The referee has counted out the entire Mercenaries team for taking too long to get to the ring!
I think Slaughter's interview lasted longer than his team did in the match
Slaughter Cannon!
and the Slaughter Bump too!
They do a ref bump in a match where there's another referee on the outside? K...
Adnan attacking Santana like there's not another referee seeing everything. This is stupid.
The Million Dollar Visionaries will take on the Ultimate Arribamaniacs
It's the shank of the evening?
Did Hector have to stay in that box all night or were they able to sneak him in later on somehow?
The number of rumors from the Observer and whatnot about what was in the egg were all hilarious. King Kong Bundy and Ric Flair were both mentioned.
If wrestlers were Pokemon this would be Terry Taylor's evolved form
"What is with the gobbledy? The gobbledy gook! Hah! Don't tell me you're the Gobbledy Gooker?!?" how the f*** would you know that, Gene?
Someone needs to make a "WHAT ARE THOSE?!?!?" clip with the Gooker
Vince: Gene, stall. Tito's still catching his breath.
It's amazing we never got a Gooker/Rikishi dance off
Tito is dripping with sweat, meanwhile Warrior just got up from his nap
Oh wow, Warrior actually changed his paint
Hogan: We're all going to Iraq!
Santana bumping off Warlord so quickly should have gotten a bigger pop. I think people were shocked into silence
Pretty funny that Hercules had no issues teaming with DiBiase
Axe Bomber to take care of Roma
I think instead of Martel walking out that Jake should have made another appearance and chased him away
I also just realized that Hercules came in with Fred Blassie and had his contract taken over by Slick, who then sold him to Bobby Heenan, then when all was said and done Hercules went back to Slick
Also kinda weird having Hercules be the last guy but I guess the wanted Warrior to end it and they couldn't have him pin DiBiase and ruin the match they were advertising for NBC the next night
And not for nothin but the referee should have stopped the count as soon as Hogan got in there
Hogan holds the rope open for Warrior, Warrior says no and holds the rope open for Hogan. Gentlemen end the show

1991
The first Survivor Series not shown on Thanksgiving night. The first Survivor Series to feature a title match. To me this is part of the end of the Hogan era.
Starting with a video recap is very interesting.
I remember being shocked that they showed this uncensored, even on PPV
King Cobra: What? And quit show business?
The snake looks dead when Jake pulls it off Randy
I still want to know what the hell is on Piper's face
"He doesn't know any better!" I don't think that had anything to do with the venom
That cobra was a great actor. Mug for the camera at the right time.
I wonder if that baby crying had anything to do with what was going on in the ring
Jack Tunney is 100% responsible!
All it takes is a doctor's note to get reinstated from forced retirement?
"3 on 3 tag team encounter" makes it sound like a six-man tag
"is she beautiful?" "who? the Mountie?"
Harvey Whippleman is like Jameson from a dark timeline
Virgil's entrance theme sounds like a remix of Tito Santana's theme
Why did Piper always cover his ear when he threw punches?
First time I remember seeing Hulk Hogan Guy in the crowd
And Bulldog's tights remind me of Shawn Michaels' first solo tights
If you watch enough of his matches you might think DiBise's catchphrase was *very loud gasping for breath*
Piper seems to have a cut on his face, not sure how he got it
"Ric Flair is the legal man" and then 5 seconds later "There was no legal tag there!" about Flair being part of the fall
It's weird how in a match where Virgil existed that they jobbed out Davey Boy first
Even though Piper put the figure four on Flair, it looks like Piper is the one suffering
It takes a simple double axehandle to put down the Warlord somehow
Mountie's supposed leather fetish would have made a larger appearance in the Attitude Era
I want to visit an alternate dimension where Heenan stayed managing and had Flair, and the Beverly Brothers in his family
This is the dumbest ending to a Survivor Series match ever and only used to save time to hype another PPV later
The announcement sounds like some made up bullshit rule your older brother or cousin made so he would make sure he won some game he invented
Flair should have been counted out since he was legal
Randy Savage too injured to compete but not too injured to dress up as a neon peacock
Randy: "Why don't you ask Elizabeth yourself?" Gene: "You told me to NEVER speak to her!"
It must have been REALLY dark in the closet where Elizabeth got dressed
Hercules was a late minute addition and they didn't even have time to get the lighting right on his photo
Someone with a random Berzerker drawing in the crowd
Kerry stops to kiss some little girl
Who's Jim Louis?
This match feels like one big haze
Tito looking like he just hit a jump shot when setting up for his finish
We're an hour into the show and we've only had 4 real eliminations
Is there going to be an explanation as to how Savage and Roberts were in the same building and Savage didn't go after Jake?
Also it seems like Jake Roberts came out of Bill Cosby's closet
What lab are we referring to? Does a wrestling company have a lab that devenomizes reptiles? Were they responsible for making sure Matilda was spayed as well?
"I spoke to God this morning and he said he doesn't like YOU"
I never realized the Real World Championship was so big that it covered Ric Flair's entire bottom half
"That's it, let's go" like there was a plan set in stone already
Imagine a 10 hour loop of Paul Bearer's little shriek
That kid is STONED as hell
Vince backstage: THAT BASTARD KID WASN'T SCARED, HE STARTED CHEERING!
"Like Yogi Bear said, it's over when it's over"
Hulk Hogan is a serial sign thief
Hogan wasting a ton of energy destroying a coffin
Those cameramen must be paid off by Undertaker, they picked the coffin back up.
Earl Hebner keeps counting to 3 and stopping while Taker continues choking Hogan. How was he ever allowed to be an official?
"Down to one knee" never gets a pop anymore
Hebner staring directly at Flair and doesn't even seem to care
"The Ownertaker!"
Who told Patterson that jacket was a great idea?
Tony Garea and Rene Goulet deserve a Hall of Fame induction just for how many years they worked for the company
Vince: I want more crying children, damn it!
Mean Gene: I'M CLEARLY IN A HOLE RIGHT NOW WITH THIS AWKWARD CAMERA SHOT!
Roddy Piper just happens to be hanging around backstage
Earthquake just spoiled the entire match!
I'm guessing Earthquake got over his fear of snakes before joining Jake's team
Bossman looks like he's tweaking out of his head
Don't interrupt Hawk!
Gene: Never in my life have I seen something so disgusting, so despicable as your tie, Tunney!
Man, it's such a coincidence that they set up this PPV show in Texas for the Savage/Roberts match and now there's a controversial title change that needs a rematch set up.
Imagine if Tunney had said the return match couldn't take place until this coming Wednesday in Nebraska
The Bushwhackers were raised in a barn together
Vince: We need more time to promote the next PPV, make this match where if one partner is eliminated the whole team is!
There's really no heat in this match. Everyone is kind of dead after the title match.
I watched this PPV at my cousin's house and had to wake up really early the next morning because my sister-in-law was taking me to the Macy's parade. I later found out what she meant was that we were watching the parade from her office, which was still cool but not as cool since you could see everything but not hear anything.
Someone actually wins with a backslide
Shawn does seem like he's trying to do this all by himself
Monsoon and Heenan completely miss Michaels getting eliminated and change the whole narrative of the match
Heenan constantly shilling for WWF Magazine
Imagine an alternate timeline where Earthquake turned face and changed his gimmick to match Tugboat's instead. Tugboat and Lighthouse maybe?
"What a Russian deed!"
Mean Gene should have called Leslie Nielsen to find The Undertaker
Typhoon kicks off IRS like it was an actual pinfall
Earthquake doesn't understand accidents
The end should have come quicker. It was getting ugly.
Sean Mooney was supposed to interview The Hulkster but wore out his welcome before the end of the match apparently
Mean Gene is in the Thriller video
Look, a cameraman is in the coffin!
Goodnight!

1992
This is like the Wrestlemania 1 of Survivor Series. Bunch of random matches to put over some newcomers with some feuds sprinkled in.
Is this the first time Vince and Bobby did a PPV together? They were a rare combo.
The entrance makes it look like a random episode of Superstars
Random ass cartwheel by Koko
We love it when Afa eats!
Fatu: Okay, our finisher will be....um....you stand there and I jump over you and splash the other guy. Samu: So I do nothing?
The Brain Scan never worked that well
Nailz was always very sweaty and spitty
I'm surprised that some cheap indie didn't try to take Nailz and make a Ghostbusters 2 gimmick with him
I got bored again and shuffled the card around to make it a real survivor series. Bulldog, Warrior and Mountie leaving made it kind of hard. Natural Disasters and Nasty Boys vs. Money Inc and The Beverly Brothers; Tatanka, Virgil, and High Energy vs. Rick Martel, Yokozuna, and Headshrinkers; Bret Hart, Randy Savage, Mr. Perfect and Marty Jannetty vs. Ric Flair, Razor Ramon, Shawn Michaels, and Bam Bam Bigelow; Undertaker, Big Boss Man, Crush, and Max Moon vs. Nailz, Kamala, Papa Shango and The Berzerker. I just kinda threw some guys into matches just to fill space.
Random closeup of a girl in the crowd with two douchey guys. Looks like the cast of Blossom.
Nailz entering while Bossman talks. Sorta jobber entrance?
Nailz, the only smart person who actually tried to grab a weapon before the match started
"Jerk it off! Rip it off!" Calm down, Bobby
Looking back, maybe Nailz should have gone over if he was about to feud with Taker? Guess it's a moot point really.
at least Razor and Flair decided to be color coded
I like how they needed to say Randy Savage was at a specific station in Florida
Jim and Jim look shocked
Bobby Heenan loved slapping people
Rick Martel steals Tatanka's feathers, wears them for a bit, then no mention of them for months through the Shawn Michaels feud, then suddenly feathers again
oh hey, Doink. I forgot he debuted in 1992
Let's cut away from this feud to show a guy make a balloon animal
You would think Doink would start a feud with Tatanka here since he spent so much time in the aisle
I remember loving Mr. Perfect's singlet and then hated that he never wore it again.
Surprised they weren't burying the shit out of Warrior here in this interview
Heenan essentially managing from the announce booth gets kind of annoying after a while
This is lucha tag rules apparently
Mr. Perfect walking out probably makes more sense than him staying with Savage
Perfect got a 5 count on Razor Ramon, Bundy would be proud
What a cluster of an ending
Fuji changed so much in the span of a year
It's funny how 505 was such a huge deal, if only they knew how big he'd get
I'm shocked that Virgil got in any offense
There were a bunch of raw turkeys laying around in the locker room? No wonder everyone got salmonella that year
Sags with a very early pumphandle slam
No one's eliminated yet? Yikes. I feel like they realized the show was gonna run short
Oh, it's tag rules too? Woops
For such a long match the last two eliminations happened back to back, weird
Perfect: I could be shitting in Knobbs' bag right now but you have me on this phone
Paul Bearer: My Undertaker doesn't understand that there are electric tools now and this could go a lot faster
Kamala as a scaredy cat is great character work
Kamala and company were so close to killing the Undertaker. If only they took the damn urn!
Gene, stall! We're barely 2 hours in!
This just doesn't feel like a main event at this point
"Don't hit him in the head, he's a Hart" so he's part Samoan?
Another resthold, Shawn?
Vince worried about Heenan's eating habits apparently
Heenan confirms that Tunney is on the take
The patented "Shawn Michaels bump in the corner and then kick into him straddling the top rope" spot makes an appearance
what's so great about bread and butter anyway? shouldn't it be going for your steak and potatoes or something?
The match is finally starting to pick up here
Not sure what the hell Michaels was going for when Bret caught his legs like that but alright
I'm pretty sure this ending is somehow not fair to Flair
Santa is here to turn heel on Bret Hart!
WWF taking shots at Macy's for some reason by one upping them
