“I’m not ashamed of my time in TNA at all. I’ve talked about it before. I was very proud of the stuff I did in TNA. I enjoyed my time there. I thought TNA was at it’s best at that time, not because I was there, but with all the talent they had. You look at the talent, they were young in their career, look at where they are now. Guys like Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Bobby Roode… it did a lot for me and gave me a lot of confidence to move on and get me to where I wanted to go and to prove to myself that I could be a main event guy. So for that, I always thank them for the opportunity that they gave me there. Dixie Carter treated me very well. “Was I surprised when I got the call? Yes, I was surprised. I didn’t expect that to be the phone call I got that day and I was kind of confused as to what was going on. I halfway thought I was being ribbed. I thought it was an honor they asked for me in return for Ric and I thought that was obviously a sign that I meant something and my contributions to that company were important so I didn’t look at it as a negative at all. “It was a weird thing and I know on the other side of it there was a lot of paperwork that had to be filed on both sides, not just for me, I’m sure for Ric. But I know for me there was a ton of paperwork that had to be signed by a lot of people. It was a pretty big deal behind the scenes. It was one of those things, it was kind of cool and should maybe even be talked about more than it is. “The way it was put to me was like ‘Look, we’re inducting the Four Horsemen into the Hall of Fame,’ and I said ‘Stop right there. First and foremost, I’m a fan. As a fan, if I’m sitting there watching the Hall of Fame and the Four Horsemen are getting inducted and Ric Flair isn’t there, to me it’s not the Four Horsemen getting inducted. He needs to be there, so I don’t need to hear any more. I’ll do it.’” www.pwpodcasts.com/2017/11/29/quick-quotes-christian-upset-sent-tna-one-night-2012/

Hmm he says that now but looking back on it he wanted nothing to do with that based upon his body language. He was IC champ at the time I believe so I wonder if he felt a little undervalued but as he’s saying now he got “traded” for Flair which is sort of an honor
I do wish wrestling had more on off trades like that especially in regards to WWE and NJPW

The process was something kind of incredible for him but actually going and cutting that promo, especially probably knowing he'd been off TV and was going to stay that way due to the circumstances was much less exciting.

Yea, I can see that. The process was probably cool because that's a buzz you hardly ever get backstage but going to the arena and doing the promo is something that probably dragging for him

Yeah I think that was mostly a look of "OK don't say anything TOO nice about TNA or you're in the doghouse"

Always felt strange why he left TNA. Seems like he had a good thing going and they make him look like a main eventer. It's as if when Angle showed up, Cage felt he was lost in the shuffle, maybe?

Weren't there reports that after his tna appearance, Christian left fast without talking to anyone?
Also in their podcast, Bruce Prichard and Conrad made fun of Dixie not asking for a bigger star to appear in tna and instead choosing Christian.

As much as he says otherwise here it seems Christian tries to avoid talking about his time in TNA. Something for sure seems off about his time there

I always felt so bad for Christian over this. There is no other way to look at Vince OKing this other then Vince telling Christian "we're never going to do anything remotely important with you ever again".

I think Christian genuinely was excited and honoured to be traded for Flair, and was honoured that TNA thought enough of him and his contributions to their company that they asked him to celebrate their anniversary, but I think it's a thing of when he was actually there he was like "If I praise TNA too much, will I get heat?, if I stay to watch the show and catch up with the boys, will I get heat?". He was pretty much in a no win situation, so I understand him not actually being excited about it when he was actually there.

I was gonna post the same thing...I don't think he meant to come off like a dick or anything, I just think he was aware the fine line he was walking and how pissy officials can be over the tiniest things.

He left for the "retirement money" He said that a long time ago. He had a great time in TNA but WWE wanted him back and essentially that contract was money he can put away towards his retirement Gail Kim essentially said the same for why she went back to WWE as well but that didn't matter once she married Irvine

Christian is one of the reason I started watching TNA. I loved his TNA run and I never watched TNA ppvs but when I heard he was going to be on the ppv I was dying to see it. One of the only TNA ppvs I’ve seen.

One of the only TNA ppvs I’ve seen. That’s interesting to hear. One of the quizzical things about this to me was what TNA got out of it. Bringing in an active competitor from a different company, and treating him like big deal when he didn’t even wrestle a match and they knew he would be gone by morning? Sounds like almost inadvertently cutting an ad for the other guys to me.
