Maris is one of the all-time sitcom characters, in spite of having no lines and never being onscreen directly. What a terrible creature.

Maris is one of the all-time sitcom characters, in spite of having no lines and never being onscreen directly. What a terrible creature. The original idea was to talk about her for a few episodes and then introduce her later in the series. However, the writers and producers realised that no matter who the actress was or what she did, she'd never live up to the expectation. Her traits and experiences were so unreal that in the end it was decided she was best left to the viewer's imagination.

This is a great, underrated show, and I agree with a lot of the posts on here.
A scene I always loved was Frasier unintentionally making his dad cry. This made Frasier start to cry, and when Niles saw them both crying he burst out in tears as well.
I also have a lot of respect for Kelsey Grammer. He has a great sense of humor, and isn't above doing voice work for of all things Squidbillies.

One of the GOAT sitcoms, though for some reason I thought it ended before the turn of the century. Feels like it's been off the air longer than 13 years.

one of my favorite shows of all time! I own the series on dvd, and go back and watch through it often enough. one of my favorite B stories was when Marty went to the ATM and it gave him an extra 20 bucks and the insanity of the climax of all of that.

My favorite episode from the series has to be "Ham Radio". From the ice cream truck gag to Gil constantly trying to say his dying monologue to the ending where Niles kills everyone's character out of frustration. It never fails to make me laugh. When someone mentions Frasier, that’s the episode that immediately comes to mind. I just watched “Ham Radio” for the first time in years and it was every bit as good as I remembered. I need to watch the whole series again, I believe I missed quite a lot of the last few seasons.

Her traits and experiences were so unreal that in the end it was decided she was best left to the viewer's imagination. The Simpsons wanted to do a character named Maris for the Brother From Another Series episode but the producers wouldn’t let them. The Simpsons said “Why not?” “Well, we don’t see Maris”. They said “But that’s not Maris!” And Fraiser said “Yes it is”. So all that was left was Cecil guessing “Maris?” When Bart covered his eyes and said “Guess who?”

Caught it for the first time earlier this year, still haven't made it quite all the way through, but very enjoyable. The show does comedy of errors really well. The Winter Cabin was especially a highlight. What an episode that is. Don't chase after these lesbians!

Maris is one of the all-time sitcom characters, in spite of having no lines and never being onscreen directly. What a terrible creature. "It's ok, I think she's gone... Oh wait! I see her coat on the hat-rack." "Look closer, is the hat-rack moving?" "Oh my GOD!!" For some reason, that exchange about Maris (admittedly, I had to double-check the exact phrasing on TV Tropes) springs to mind the most about her.

All the molten lust in this cabin tonight, all the hormones practically ricocheting off the walls...and no one was after me? See you at breakfast.
