“Casting Captain America was super hard. I started to think, “Are we not going to be able to find Captain America, and if we can’t, what are we going to do with Avengers? Is the whole thing going to fall apart?” And, then, finally opening ourselves up to Chris Evans, who we had initially sort of just looked past because he was Johnny Storm in a Fantastic Four franchise. Then, bringing him in and showing him the artwork, showing him what was happening in this movie, and he took a weekend to decide.” "He’s a reluctant star, but I think he’s become—and I’ve said this to him—for as amazing as all of our actors are at embodying these characters, every single one of them, he’s one that reminds me, alongside Christopher Reeve, as just like “these are the characters. I think he’s a great actor, and I think he can do whatever he wants to do, but even when you look at his Twitter account and taking a stand on things, it’s like, “Is he becoming Captain America?” Which I think is great" bamsmackpow.com/2017/12/09/x-men-dark-phoenix-new-timeline/

I guess a lot of these things are easier to judge with the passage of time, but the potential is certainly there, especially for the people who will have grown up with him.

I would agree with that.
Same applies to RDJ as Iron Man.

I would agree. I could see someone else playing Tony Stark (maybe just do something different with the character) but Evans is the only one I can see as Cap.

He's got a long way to go before replacing Reb Brown.

In a few years, he may not be wrong. Evans is definitely who I associate with the character now.

I think it needs time to be cemented there's as much staying power to it and the role doesn't one day end up being just as taken by someone else but there is undoubtedly an argument to be made. And I don't even like the Captain America movies that much.

Time will tell. But I will still say he's what Henry Cavill should have been.

Well, he's already had more good movies as Cap than Reeve did as Superman, that's for sure.

I absolutely agree. Captain America 2 might be my favorite superhero movie, period.

He'll never have the same iconography as Reeves, simply for being a part of a larger whole. Which isn't to say he isn't as good, because he is. It's just that Reeves was THE superhero.

Chris Evans takes his role as Captain America seriously, because he knows kids don't see him as an actor playing Captain America, but rather he IS Captain America. I think he does the kids's hospital visits in full costume.

I could definitely see it for sure. Whether or not he will be as iconic as Reeve's Superman is probably stretching it honestly.

Who would have thought that the high school jock with the banana in his ass would one day grow up to be Captain America. I bet Christopher Reeve didn’t have that on his resume.
