Just saw it on Instagram www.instagram.com/p/Bcn5RoDgBmy/If they sell enough at these Hot Topic stores, they'll go nationwide. Whatever your feelings on Joey, this is a bit of a development.

See, I saw that Joey Ryan was getting a test, and assumed the worst.

See, I saw that Joey Ryan was getting a test, and assumed the worst. They say whenever you wrestle someone, you wrestling everyone they've ever wrestled with. Always wrestle safe. On topic, I like the gender equality shirt.

Hot Topic has really done a face turn recently.
I'm gonna go and buy one these to support wrestlers being able to make it without the E.

Hot topic obviously realizing there could be money in appealing to non-WWE wrestling fans. The Bullet Club stuff was the experiment that worked better than anybody could have imagined. Now, they are getting ready to dive deep into it.

I can't see that one Joey shirt selling well at all.

I can't see that one Joey shirt selling well at all. At least get his Nakamura parody "King of Dong Style" in there. Even if people don't know who it is, it'll see for goofs and gaffs.

The groundswell of the non-WWE wrestling boom just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

For a moment I thought Joey was getting a STD test.

For a moment I thought Joey was getting a STD test. well that'd be his fault for not wearing a rubber when he does the Dick-plex.

If I didn’t know what the parody was, my reaction to that shirt would be like if someone was wearing one of those “FBI- Female Body Inspector” shirts, I.e. I’d think the wearer is a total douchebag.

Damn, things are getting interesting in this industry, aren't they? I hope things go great here, they've earned it.

I'd hope this goes well for actual indie wrestling to succeed and get into Hot Topic beyond just Joey and Candice, but there seem to be two big glaring flaws to this test run that could be disheartening for it:
1) The T-shirts for Bullet Club are snazzy-looking T-shirts, even if you don't watch New Japan (likely leading to the big sales), and we don't know how the LIJ shirt is selling by contrast (a less visually striking shirt.) By contrast, the Ryan and LeRae shirts aren't very good by comparison. The only shirt that looks like it'll do well is the gender equality shirt, and even that shirt looks like something that non-wrestling fans will buy not knowing or caring about Joey or Candice.
The bigger problem for these shirts would be the elephant in the room:
2) Candice was in the MYC and has been on a few tapings in battle royals. She's clearly trying to get a WWE contract right now. We ALL know that Vince McMahon won't take this Hot Topic expansion lying down, and this is the first real chance WWE has of countering the HT expansion. There is no doubt in my mind that if this test market goes national- heck even by announcing it, by the second Center Stage tapings with NXT Candice LeRae will get her ceremonial selfie with Triple H.

I mean, for all the talk about Sean Maluta being in the CWC and being on some NXT tapings, he actually hasn't signed to the WWE for all that time (which seems really odd considering how talented the guy is and his family connections). It seems that NXT has a pool of people who can come in and put over others or fill spaces when others aren't ready for TV, hence why people like Martinez, Garrett and LaRae herself weren't at all at the last set of tapings. Because the people who were signed that were in the MYC were ready for TV. Like in Maluta's case, why use him on shows when he's not signed when someone like Fabien Eichner who is signed is ready to go. If anything, this pretty much showed to me that LaRae doesn't feel ready to go to WWE yet when she's already quite marketable on her own and with Ryan since she's been a big star in the indies for a long time now and pretty much the reason they had to get her for the MYC to do a women's tournament. If you have at least another year or so to go and make your money before jumping to WWE, go for it. This deal might help that and springboard for others which can only be a positive for the wrestling business as a whole. I mean, if by April next year, she's appearing on the next set of NXT tapings and signed with HHH, I'll be wrong but unlike Jazzy, Toni and Piper (who, needs to be said again, none will be near the company until at least October next year if we go by how long it took to sign Fabien Eichner, if at all), if Candice wanted to be there and signed, she'd be there and signed.

The fact that "Legalize Sleaze" wasn't included instead of the "Joey Ryan" shirt is beyond me.

Not the point here. Of the Hot Topic people, the first wave were New Japan workers- who are under contract (and the gaijin have refused WWE, many many times.) This, on the other hand, is the first time WWE can actually nip a Hot Topic-aligned indy worker in the bud by Hot Topic accepting someone who is noncontracted and is VERY on WWE's radar, and presumably there is enough mutual interest that LeRae would work shows (even if she's a local talent). If anything's going to grease the wheels to get a Candice signing through there, it will be this.

If anything's going to grease the wheels to get a Candice signing through there, it will be this. Even then, that factors on if this shirt succeeds since it is a trial run. If it doesn’t, not really an issue. If it does, they probably have a deal set down for it to be on sale for in the same way some wrestlers have with ProWrestlingTees where some still had their stores open for another couple of months into a WWE contract and promote it until stock’s fully gone. And even even then, that also figures into what Candice wants for all this. If WWE offers Candice another deal, if they even offered a first deal, it’s not like she’s going to automatically say yes to it and she probably wouldn’t have done this at all if she was thinking about WWE any time soon. So I get what you’re saying but this seems like a no lose situation. If the shirt doesn’t sell, no issue. If it does, she has extra income coming in for if and when she accepts a WWE deal, which was probably written into the contract she signed with Hot Topic.
