My aunt died in a car wreck, her husband rapidly blew through the life insurance on drugs and people ripping him off for it and is presently sitting in jail, my nephew was born and then died, my grandma got diagnosed with cancer, my uncle's girlfriend went nuts and tried to strangle my grandma leading me to have to pull her off and she shortly afterward overdosed and died, my brother's job decided to just completely stop paying him for no reason leading me to pretty much have to prop him up for months while he first waited for his backpay and then gave up and looked for a new one.
F*** this year.

I got to see a lot of my favourite bands play live this year. I also went to my first wedding and abroad for the first time since 2014. I had some nice holidays with my girlfriend and my friends. The only real negatives were not seeing much of my best friend since he got a girlfriend during the Summer and finding out another friend is moving away next year. Plus work has been rough and I have had real serious thoughts about leaving my job that I've been in since 2011.

Pretty much the best year of my life. My long distance girlfriend of three years finally moved back home after teaching in the arctic for most of our relationship, I got promoted to running security for an entire hospital, I got more writing done than I have in a while and I concentrated a lot on my mental health to make hard choices and become a better person. It hurt sometimes, but it was worth it.
Downside is I gained a ton of weight from eating shitty food. I plan on fixing that by getting back into martial arts. I have a gym membership I never used because I don't have an idea for a workout plan. I'm already cooking more though, which is good.

Much better than the last two years. Last half of the year has been jacked up, BUT business has picked up in the last three weeks, so I got that going for me, which is nice.

A little inferior to 2016, but I'll try to level in the pros and cons.
Pros: -I got my AA in the journalism field and this is actually the first time I had worked longer than a few months. I know I can get a better job, I just need to take an exam to open that door. -I got to see a local music act twice that I have followed for nearly two years after I had done a story on them for a local paper. I have become a groupie of theirs, but I also try to be somewhat distant to them. -Went to Las Vegas for the first time and had a blast. -I still remain pretty active in working out.
Cons (They didn't come until the latter parts of the year): -I found out a good female friend of mine started dating someone about a month ago, and I have had feelings for her for a long time. But it seems that she is really happy with this guy and while I am happy and glad for her, I still feel a bit jealous about it. Though I do say that he deserves her more than I do. I sometimes wonder if I had messed up my chance with her after I flaked on hanging out with her a few times (If you really want to know, just ask me through a PM). -I realized that I didn't put in a lot of effort into school because of my hectic schedule and while I take responsibility for it, I really wish I had done more with it. -I think I had put on some weight with my eating habits. At least I acknowledge it and I want to change it up. -I also lost a thumb drive recently, but I think I have an idea where I had lost it. Hopefully it was turned in and I can recover it.
While I feel that 2016 was a better year, as well as 2015, this year was certainly better than 2014 for me.

I was part of opening a brewery/taproom in my hometown this year. It's been a dream for five years or so and it finally all came together. So hugely positive I'd say.

Can you elaborate on that, that sounds fascinating.

Not a great year. I hit a deer driving home from a show one night, causing $3200 worth of damage to my car. Luckily, I still maintained full insurance coverage on it, so all I had to come up with was the $500 deductible. It was borderline that my car would end up totaled, but it made it by a few hundred bucks. Got the car back after about a week or so. Everything seemed alright with it until I went to get its bi-annual safety inspection done. The dealership found serious damage to the axle assembly on the side where the deer hit. I wound up paying almost $1500 out of pocket and going to war with the insurance company to attempt to get reimbursed. Both parties blamed each other and after a couple of months, I'd lost the war and was stuck with that big financial hit. About 4 months after all that, I managed to hit a curb while driving home from a show and blew out a tire. A new tire, rotation, alignment, etc ended up being almost another $300. VERY expensive year to keep my car on the road.
Aside from all that, just my typical depression and anxiety about way too many things that I can't control. I lapsed into self-harm on numerous occasions and am still trying to keep that in check on a near-daily basis.

2017 has been an odd years for me because the pros and cons are intertwined. I don't even know how to write about this year.
