I’m surpised that echo/alexa/Siri finally took off.
Seems like every generation wanted or tried
VR Smart watches Motion control video games Yelling at your electronics (or clapping at your lights) Hands free talking 3D
Yet they usually failed miserably. People didn’t like looking like dorks or douchebags, or crazy people with all the special glasses and headsets and and generally being out in public talking to an inanimate object like a crazy person.
How do you feel about the “smart” home craze and any peticular technology you found funny that you’re surrised had made a comeback or just never died?

I've tried to talk to the Alexa we have here at work. She's very limited so I'm not impressed.
I was at a friend's house one night and managed to talk his Alexa into setting off an alarm at 3am after I was gone.....
Otherwise, I don't like "talking to my electronics" because they never seem to have the answers I want or need.

Otherwise, I don't like "talking to my electronics" because they never seem to have the answers I want or need. I don't like the talking to electronics thing because it's inherently awkward. I've had an iPhone for years and never once used Siri. Now, when our electronics have JARVIS levels of interactivity, I'll feel more comfortable with talking to electronics. Of course, at that point I'll probably begin to fear the inevitable robot uprising, but that's a whole 'nother thing.

Seems like every generation wanted or tried... Yelling at your electronics (or clapping at your lights) Hey, my lights are awesome and deserve the applause. Seriously, I get a feeling that we're going to see a new version of Google Glasses every couple of years until it actually catches on.

I can usually do things faster manually rather than by talking to the thing.
That probably isn't true, but it feels faster because I'm actually doing something.
I got a new Amazon Fire TV stick and my wife asked Alexa to sing a song. It sang this, which was amusing

"Alexa... Photoshop Booker T holding a picture of Scott Hall onto The Hangover DVD cover." "Alexa... play me Jurassic Park but every dinosaur is replaced by Nicholas Cage" When that becomes reality, I'll finally give in and buy one. No, a dozen.

You know what, I would buy one if they swapped Alexa for Booker T.
"Booker... play Jason Jordan vs Roman Reigns from Raw on YouTube."
"AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW HELLLLLL NAWWWWWW. That boy right there ain't no GOOT."

Nothing is more disturbing than trying to pinch a loaf while the guy in the next stall is talking on his hands free cellphone.

Nothing is more disturbing than trying to pinch a loaf while the guy in the next stall is talking on his hands free cellphone. I work in a public building. One of my favorite pranks is when somebody is on their cellphone in the restroom. I'll give a deep "Ooooh yeah that feels good" and nearly every time I hear the dude on the phone say something like "I'll call you back" or "No that's not me" I really don't care if I'm a jerk about it. If you didn't want your conversation to be public don't have it 3 feet away from other people trying to shit. For the record, I only do it if they are talking loudly. if they are trying to keep it "quiet" I let it slide. They are at least trying.

Sony minidisc. I can't go anywhere without someone trying to sell me a minidisc. And I'm like "chill, guy! I already got me a player and so many discs." But still, without fail, they're always like "$20 and it's yours man. Take it or leave it." Or "Man I'm just gonna give it to my kid if you don't buy it." Shit no you wont 8 year olds dont know how to work a Sony minidisc. Not at all.
