Heather North has died. North voiced Daphne Blake from 1970 - 2003. She passed away after a long battle with illness.
She passed away November 30th but it’s just being reported today for some reason.

RIP. Changed title to avoid confusion with the character dying.

Crazy enough, she wasn't the original voice of Daphne.
That was Indira Stefanianna.

Crap.... I'm about to watch the Christmas episode from 1984 too. She was also on some sitcoms, like Gidget.

The article also stated that her memorial service would be tomorrow. I wonder why it's been held off for almost three weeks?
I think it's safe to say that she was the definitive Daphne and it's kind of obvious who the definitive Shaggy, Scooby and Fred are. But who does everyone think of when it comes to who voiced Velma?

I actually like the 1978 voice. She was from Linden, NJ, you know.

One might say her health went south.
Yes, I'm terrible.

She was the voice of Daphne from 1970-1986 on any sort of regular basis, returning in 1997 (for an episode of Johnny Bravo) and 2003 (for 2 DTV movies). Still, impressive longevity, especially considering Velma was constantly recast over the years. Kellie Martin voiced young Daphne on A Pup Called Scooby-Doo (which was the only Scooby series that ran between '86-97) and then Grey DeLisle took over the role in 2001 and, not counting those 2 2003 movies, has voiced Daphne ever since. The article also stated that her memorial service would be tomorrow. I wonder why it's been held off for almost three weeks? Well, that's not really unusual. Nor is someone's death being reported weeks after they died. It could be a combo of things like telling relatives and getting legal arrangements in order or something. Then there's also the grim thought that she literally wasn't known to be or found dead until a few days ago and it was just determined she passed a few weeks ago. RIP, Daph.
