It's a ballsy list I'll give it that. Not quite where I'd place most myself. Too tired to do it right now but I would like to give it credit for actually putting 8 as high up as they do (my personal favorite).

I was going to complain about 14 being at the bottom before I realised that A Realm Reborn was top 7 aka the 14 that is good.
edit: I deffo wouldn't have 12 top 2 and would probably shift it down to 8th with 9 taking its place at 2nd.

No way I'd put 12 or 5 above 4 or 7. 4 being my top spot followed by 6 then 7.

Certainly an unorthodox set of opinions there but I'm board with it.

very odd numbering.
6 is definitely my #1... but 12 seems way too low at 2...
14 and 2 (Japan) are definitely in their right spot too... for being complete messes.

I'd put 12 near the bottom. I thought it was shit.
Boring, too hard to follow plot and the most forgettable cast of characters in a FF game.
Good map and town designs though.

I gotta agree that V being anywhere in the upper half is someone trolling.
For me personally:
1. XII 2. IV 3. VI 4. IX 5. VII 6. X 7. XV 8. VIII 9. XIII 10. I 11. V 12. III 13. II
I've never played XI or XIV

VIII would be the top one for me. The rest largely interchangeable as they didn't grab me in the same way.

My list:
1. IX 2. VIII 3. X 4. VII 5. V 6. IV 7. VI 8. XIII 9. XV 10. XII 11. XIV 12. III
Played II for about five minutes, and never played I or XI.

I know some people will argue that a lot of the shine is off VII nowadays, but putting VIII over VII AND IX?!? I mean, you're saying that's the best game of the FF PS1 trilogy? I can't have their backs on that one.
XII doesn't get enough love, but #2 all-time?!? Damn, that's......I mean, I think it's underrated but DAMN...
Kinda hard to argue VI at the top though. I'd personally say IX but I couldn't put up a fight against someone saying it's VI. VII, absolutely, but not VI.

I was ready to riot seeing FF14 dead last. But then I realized it was for the original game and not what the game's been like since ARR, which is in a much more respectable position.
Also didn't realize Jeremy Parish (aka Toastyfrog from back in the day) was writing for Polygon nowadays. I got to talk to him a few times on a mutual friend's site and he's a good dude. And I can say, knowing his tastes, that this list perfectly suits them.
My own rankings using the same criteria, though I won't rank XIV 1.0 (because it doesn't exist anymore and it would've been dead last anyway) and XV (because I haven't played it yet).
1. VI 2. IV 3. V 4. XIV: A Realm Reborn 5. X 6. IX 7. VII 8. XII 9. III 10. VIII 11. XI 12. I 13. XIII 14. II

And if you don't, you really don't. Not a big middle ground game.

How in the WORLD is VIII that high? A game that's basically about Cloud again, only this time, it's Cloud with even less charisma or likeability.

That ring breaks the game now.

Yea they made Adamantoise susceptible to the ring which is all you need to know In my opinion the game was never terribly difficult in the first place, of course when you start running into deamons in the night time your first play through u will get hurt until you level up I picked it back up recently to continue finishing up the monster quest and like I said the changes they've made will def give people a better play through than those who had it from Day One. That's not to say it was a bad game because I enjoyed it but you can tell it was unfinished but now the DLC fills in some of the gaps

That's not to say it was a bad game because I enjoyed it but you can tell it was unfinished but now the DLC fills in some of the gaps I had an easy time because I did so many fetch quests before chapter 8, then I was WAY overpowered for the rest of the storyline. I think I was in level 75 when I beat it and it was so easy. the ring was ridiculous. I decided to make beating Adamantoise my "end-game". I think it took me three hours to beat him legit (and even that was easy, it was just an exercise in patience). Then my seven year old son wanted to try with the ring and he beat Adamantoise on the second shot. Now with that Power Rangers armor and the ring I can't see anything giving anyone a tough time. I admit I even used that combo in the bonus dungeons when things got a little hairy.
