I adore the George C. Scott version. I feel the costumes and setting are perfect, and Tiny Tim is actually...well...tiny and sickly looking. Too many times in other versions, Tim looks like a perfectly normal kid just with a crutch. George himself is outstanding. His voice, IMO, is perfect for the character. I enjoy other versions like Scrooged and Mickey's Christmas Carol, but when I want a more "authentic" version, I always reach for George C. Scott. I think the highlight for me in the George C. Scott version is the Ghost of Christmas Present. He just seems to really drive the point home how disgusted Scrooge ought to be with the things he's said about the poor.

Another great actor with a great voice! I also enjoyed what they did with the Ghost of Christmas Future. Not just creepy, but that strange noise they always played whenever he passed or pointed. I remember being terrified of that part when I was a very little kid.

My favorite movie version is the Muppets. But my favorite overall version is Patrick Stewart’s one man reading. My mom bought it for me as a kid and my wife got it for me on cd a few years ago.

Speaking of the Muppets one all the talk on the When Love Is Gone song scene is really something It annoys the piss out of me that scene has been cut from the DVD-onwards releases. For me it's where Scrooge is truly humanised, no longer simply afraid of what awaits him after death, but truly regretful for the path he took in life. I must be lucky then, because the DVD version I have has the option for theatrical wide screen and extended full screen where Love is Gone is included. And yeah it is one of the most beautifully heart wrenching songs in the Muppet music catalogue. And I'm man enough to admit when Caine's Scrooge starts singing along at the end of the song I almost tear up every time.

The George C Scott version now on on AMC. With so many of them out there you got a good list to choose from Muppet Christmas Carol and it’s not even close. A must watch every year for my family and me.

As a sucker for TV movies (Then again, I am a total movie buff to boot), I remember enjoying Ebbie with Susan Lucci as the Scrooge character. I also kind of enjoyed A Diva's Christmas Carol with Vanessa L. Williams playing Ebony Scrooge.

The Muppet Christmas Carol.
The best Christmas film ever. The best adaptation of A Christmas Carol. The best adaptation of a Charles Dickens novel. And the best Michael Caine performance ever. (I’m serious).

One man readings can be the best form of the story, given it's the version Dickens honed to perfection over time for his own readings on the stage. About 5 years ago I got the chance to see Simon Callow perform it, and it was incredible.

You can see why some don't like this movie. Murry's character is so unlikable Isn't that the point, though? Yeah, that's one critique of that movie I never got. The fact that he's an unlikable jackass through most of the movie is the point. Always wonder about the Stewart one. You really don't hear many bring it up I have it on DVD. It's really good, but shows it's age I feel. Biggest problem with that one was that because it was a TV movie the budget was pretty low and at times it shows. The Muppet Christmas Carol. The best Christmas film ever. The best adaptation of A Christmas Carol. The best adaptation of a Charles Dickens novel. And the best Michael Caine performance ever. (I’m serious). I love when Caine was asked to do the production his response was. “I’m going to play this movie like I’m working with the Royal Shakespeare Company. I will never wink, I will never do anything Muppety. I am going to play Scrooge as if it is an utterly dramatic role and there are no puppets around me.” and I think the movie was made on that decision.

Muppets! And the best Michael Caine performance ever. (I’m serious). It's either that or: "I never thought it'd be the bees. They've always been our friends!" (Caine is one of my all time faves, but man, he's appeared in some hilarity...)

The Alastair Sim version. Correct, followed by Mickey's Christmas Carol and Scrooged.
