Mother gave both my brother and I test kits for Christmas. Instructions make it sound pretty simple, but I’m waiting until the weather warms a bit to do it so I won’t risk the sample freezing up in the mail. My uncle on my father’s side had one done and was amused to find out we are more heavily Scandinavian than German, so I am curios to see what my overall result will be.

I know you are talking about human DNA tests, but I did one for my dog because we weren't sure the breed and it was worth the money (WisdomPanel).
I would like to do a human DNA test to find out where I'm from and stuff like that

I am curious on how accurate these things are. Surely you and your brother's results should be the same?

Our mom did one and some of the results were surprising, since we had always believed that side to be mainly Irish and French.

Maybe this is your mother's round about way of saying you two aren't brothers.

Two of my cousins did them and got wildly different results. and well there is also this... www.insideedition.com/investigative/21784-how-reliable-are-home-dna-ancestry-tests-investigation-uses-triplets-to-find-out

When it came back negative and Maury gave me the good news, I definitely danced across the stage.

I hear that nearly everyone that does these tests discover they have a little Mongolian in them (source: Patton Oswalt on his most recent Netflix special) And anyone that has studied history will probably know why.
