I'd be curious. I highly, highly recommend the portion of Have A Nice Day where Mick discusses it, if you haven't read it. It sounds... pretty colorful.

Meltzer said that he realized it was gonna fail once during a press conference Herb Abrams said he was gonna sign Bruiser Brody, well the problem was that Brody had been dead for quite some time.
Short term Abrams's UWF is the most embarrassing company ever. Long term its tna but that's another conversation for another day.

A few years ago one of the members here "mongocane" was working on a book about UWF. We chatted briefly about it in PMs but I'm not sure whatever came of his idea.

Years ago, like 2005, Rob Naylor and Bix were suppose to do episodes of the old Joe VS the world podcast on Icw/IWCCW,Global and UWF. Sadly only the first 2 Feds happened. Each was 4 hours long and Rob,Bix and Joe Gagne all watched hours of footage.

It comes up a good bit on the 6:05 Superpodcast hosted by Brian Last. He may have even done an interview segment with someone who worked with Herb.

"Let's hear it for the Jews!" "Oh, I was married to a Jap one time." I think Herb Abrams may have been crazy even by wrestling standards.

It's not a documentary, but Maffew of Botchamania has been doing recaps of UWF Fury hour, giving match and segment reviews.

Just watched the Wrestling with Wregret episode that was linked earlier in the thread. Can't help thinking a clean and sober Abrams with the right people around him had the ideas, worth ethic and energy to do something better in wrestling. Guys saying he treated staff well, his obvious enthusiasm and little things like the worked shoot with Williams and Ray and the adlibbed run in to the match just show a few glimmers of something potentially special.
It was still trash in the end, but that makes it sadder really, rather than it just being a glorious dumpster fire.

You can see the progress I've made over the last seven years here: www.facebook.com/uwfherbabramsbook/There's also a bunch of scans of UWF articles, promo pictures, souvenir programs, etc. Things are starting to come together.

Who owns the rights to the footage, out of curiosity?

Who owns the rights to the footage, out of curiosity? I think Abrams' son, last I checked.

Brody would've either knocked him out after getting tired of dealing with Herb or convince Abrams to pay him a shitload in advance and not even bother to show up.

Foley fought Snuka to a double count out in a lumberjack match. When B. Brian Blair said that couldn’t happen, Foley said, it’s Herb’s company, we can do anything!

Who owns the rights to the footage, out of curiosity? I think Abrams' son, last I checked. Abrams never had a son. Don't believe anyone who says he is. It's been a major thorn in the side of the actual family for years now. I assume that Al Burke still owns the footage from the agreement that was made in 1995.
