And if Turner hadn't sold it ,it would still be on the air. Turner didn't care that WCW was losing money. WCW,not Crockett, most of the time was a money losing company.

IF WCW was making 60 million in profit, they wouldn't have cancelled it. They might have hated it, but they had to answer to shareholders who would have been livid that such a money making program was cancelled.

And that would've been a terrible business decision. For Ted Turner to let his fandom keep costing him money. We are talking about more than sixty million in losses. Why would AOL and Time Warner keep a dead brand in wcw that was hemorrhaging money?

I'd say WCW's worst trait at the timee in terms of money was hiring people just so WWE and ECW couldn't have them. Yeah, Raven did well, but were they ever going to do anything with Whipwreck, Sandman etc? Hell, they even hired Kimona Wanalaya. What exactly were they going to do with her? To be honest, I didn't mind Sandman as Hardcore Hak, I enjoyed some of his brawls with Raven and Bam Bam in early 1999.

Kevin Sullivan.
Benoit warned Kevin Sullivan that he was leaving for the wwe the next day that he wouldn't mind doing the favor and losing to Sid on his way out. Naturally Sullivan made Benoit the champion haha.
Chris Jericho was scouted and was gonna be an important part of the cruiser weight division, Kevin Sullivan the main booker was never made aware of said plans and assumed Jericho was just a jobber and booked him as such.
Eric Bischoff wanted to push Perry Saturn giving him a win in an upcoming ppv. During the ppv Sullivan told Perry that he was losing. Perry was irate and called Bischoff who was at a hunting trip and Eric then called Sullivan to lay out the plans. Also of note is that Bischoff, who ran the company, would rather go to hunting trips instead of showing up at the ppv.
Disco Inferno was ordered by Kevin Sullivan to put over Miss Texas (Jackie Moore) in several matches because they had plans for her. Jackie left a short time later.
Kevin Sullivan told Jericho to stop having good matches because nobody cared. Yeah the boss actually told an employee to be mediocre.

Yeah Hall too said it to Jericho. It was a case of Scott being Scott and just bullying talent because he could. During a legends round table, Bischoff said that the one thing he regretted doing was hiring Scott Hall, that there was no presence more disruptive in the locker room since Hall arrived in wcw.

Starrcade 1997.
Sting should have gone over Hogan clean, with a submission. It was the logical end to their feud. It didn't need any bullshit, and especially no Bret Hart involvement. That should have been the end of the NWO once and for all. It had outlived its usefulness.

And really it ain't like he was spending our money so why care.

But didn't bother with Nitro,PPVs or other WCW shows after Starrcade 97.

WCW was mismanaged from day one, even extending to the last few years of Jim Crocket Promotions. I listened to the two Exile On Badstreet episodes about 1988 JCP, you owe it to yourself to listen to the two Exile On Badstreet episodes about 1988 JCP (And the one about JCP buying UWF in 1987). No one has metioned this yet about the mismanagement extending to their TV, here are a couple examples: WCW showing the WRONG control center segment the weekend before an Clash of the Champions (they showed the one that was supposed to air after the Clash of the Champions) Another example (From before Turner purchased JCP) was that the World Wide Wrestling and Pro that aired in Raliegh North Carolina was promoting a local house show in July 1988, one show plugged one lineup while the other show plugged a different lineup

The executives when they realized just how much money they were losing and how pissed off the stockholders would get once they found out.

That should have been the end of the NWO once and for all. It had outlived its usefulness. Apparently that was the only way Hogan accepted losing to Sting. Hogan's creative control was another killing blow. Like someone before mentioned, Bret had to ask for Hogan's permission for an angle he wasn't even involved in. Hogan's control apparently extended to other storylines that had nothing to do with him. Hogan became the de facto booker.

On a similar note, if Turner didn’t get bought out how long would he have carried on? How long would he have let the company carry on losing money and ratings?

Well they lost sixty two million, how much worse would it have gotten? WCW lasting past 2001 is a scary thought. Russo would've probably wrote a segment about a helicopter landing in the ring.

Come on, it's Russo. It'd be a plane, and he'd walk out of it with a towel on his head. And yes, I genuinely believe Russo is that much of an asshole.

I'm going to go further back and steal Jim Cornette's answer:
Jim Herd.
This guy didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground but was put in charge of WCW. He managed to piss off Ric Flair so bad, he left the damn company as their champion. He was so bad that he caused multiple people to quit the booking committee in protest of his nimwit decisions and the gravest sin of them all, he screwed the pooch so badly that Eric Bischoff was eventually hired (after of course the Kip Frey and Bill Watts administrations went down in flames in quick order). This caused the dominoes to fall in such a matter that an AWA gofer and third rate announcer for WCW to become the head of the second largest US wrestling promotion. He continued to lose money for years, stole an idea from Japan, signed WWF stars who were past their prime (or in some instances never had one), and managed to eventually run WCW in the black.
WCW's profitability lasted what? 1 year, maybe 2? Infamously the last year they were in existence they managed to lose 60 million. I don't even know how that is possible without purposefully trying to lose that much. It's almost like a bastardization of Brewster's Millions.

Did they at least hype the shit out of Goldberg being in Universal Soldier: The Return?
I'm watching it on Starz right now. 😊

I don't see nothing wrong with that. You can call it mismanagement or good will or some cash on the side. That certainly is not one of the reason why they went broke. Also saying how wrestler x is useless and should have been fired but remained on the roster is easy to say when you are on the outside. But inside they are all one giant click who take care of each other, so if a person x plans the budget and his buddy y is out of the job or being miserably paid of course they gonna go and pull some strings. What are you talking about? It's not good will it's them being f***ing idiots that begged the wrestlers to f*** them over. The ticket scam had existed since the company started and it was never fixed. You never hear the wwe being that stupid to give tickets to people they won't book, it's called being good at your job and wcw never understood that concept. It wasn't the main reason they went out of business but when you add it to other stuff that's why they lost more than sixty million dollars at one point. Also who cares if you want to take care of your friends? Wrestling is a business and has a budget. Yeah Jim Ross had friends who were in bad financial situations, but he was also in charge of a budget and Vince would approve every signing. Vince inspired fear and respect and nobody was gonna f*** him over to hire more of his buddies. WCW had 90 guys under contract thats not being a good friend that's wcw being f***ing idiots. Not ust was the ticket scam a big problem, but it represented the kind of insane chaos going on in the company: if they had travel people who were better at their jobs, there wouldn't have been redundant tickets. If the booking team knew what they were doing, there wouldn't have been redundant tickets. If like WWE you were supposed to show up anyway and there was some kind of enforcement of employee behavior, they couldn't have run the scam. If they had people looking at all these uncollected airfares being refunded and shit, people would have been busted. WCW was a f***-up on so many levels that not only were these big problems, but they were problems that required nobody be good at what they were doing.,
