The Battleship New Jersey which is located across the river in Camden is worth visiting.

Do NOT go to Pat's or Geno's. Overpriced and overrated tourist traps. Almost any hole in the wall pizza joint in South Philly will have a much better cheese steak for much less. This. A buddy of mine that worked in Philly for a while said the first thing he learned was that the best cheese steaks in Philly are usually the places that don't have the word steak in their name. To add to it, Pat's and Geno's are basically like going to Dominos or Pizza Hut while in New York City.

Cheesesteak wise if you want to avoid the actual city Talk of the Town is near the stadiums/arena. If you are a beer drinker there are a handful of good breweries in the area such as Yards and Evil Genius. If you want a bar its hard to go wrong with old city and whoever said Bob and Barbra's is on point.

Also, John's Roast Pork at Front and Snyder makes a helluva cheesesteak, and obviously a phenomenal roast pork sandwich. They close early though, but they're also within walking distance of the ECW Arena, should you catch any of the shows there that weekend.
