We all know he was supposed to come back to wcw in 90 and 93 . I feel a return in 90 would have went well as the horsemen were heels but 93 I'm not so sure as they were babyfaces. How does everyone see this playing out? How long does he stay around either time?

Well for one we would've been spared of the Paul Roma being a horseman era.
I never got why Tully never returned like he just disappeared from the face of the earth.

Yeah, there has to more to it than a failed drug test. I mean HEAVEN forbid a wrestler was caught with drugs! Especially one of the fast living, hard partying 4 Horsemen!

During that time Jim Herd and George Scott were hiring everyone, and then during the Bischoff administration they were hiring anyone so the wwe wouldn't get them. I just can speculate at this point that Tully was disliked and that's why he was never hired back.

I remember one of the Apternags mentioned that Tully had found religion and started working for Coca Cola/I’m thinking they mentioned drugs, but not sure

Tully started getting involved in the church almost exactly at the time he departed from the WWF, and unlike many of the guys who jumped into that field of work during those years, Tully seems to have found a concrete calling that changed him as a human being and he stuck with it. By the time the second possible return was being discussed, he wasn't fully convinced he wanted to be part of the pro wrestling lifestyle anymore, and the offer just wasn't enough for him to go back on the road. After that, he ended up doing maybe one notable show every year or two for a while until 1999 but had no real use for wrestling anymore.
It certainly didn't help from the other side, Tully had been a complete, grade-A asshole to most everyone during his wrestling career. Even if WCW wanted to bring him back, they were doing so very hesitantly, as they knew he was a massive headache to deal with.

Tully did become more religious later in his life. At a Powerslam show in Picayune MS,which was a co promoted show with the Dibiase's family's Wrestling Outreach promotion, they showed Tully's testimonial video. That he had recorded recently. I love how he worked in a Four Horsemen reference into it.
I always here it was a combo of Tully's drug use plus him just being a straight up asshole behind the scenes. Wasn't his final match, for a time, against Shane Douglas in ECW?

He left WWE,got fairly religious and maybe wrestles 4 matches a year. Most of them on shows co-promoted by the previously mentioned Wrestling Outreach group. The show I was at were Tully's testimonial video aired,Powerslam had Ted Jr as the Powerslam Commissioner for the night. After airing Tully's vid,Ted Jr told why he left WWE. He said he got hurt and felt like he was getting hooked on pain pills and booze. Having had been told how that happened to his father,he retired from wrestling and is doing good. Most years in the summer Wrestling Outreach has a show at a summer camp for at risk kids. The last two years Ted Jr has been in the main event 6 man tag. Usually with with his younger brother Brett on the same team.

I didn't know Tully legit changed after finding religion, I thought he became religious like Jake and Beefcake did it for money, but good for him.

Yea Tully is a legit changed man. Have a buddy that met him a few times back in the Horsemen days and many times after he became religious. "It is like meeting a totally different person. He went from being a cranky %^$**#@*@#( to being a incredible nice and giving person."

That's good to hear. It's easy to be cynical, but people do change.

On his Highspots shoot Flair said he blocked the Tully return (inadvertently leading to Roma) because the company wanted to pay him 100k more than Arn.

I was never around Tully back in the day, obviously. I've been around him a few times in recent years and found him to be thoroughly pleasant.
I can only contrast that with stories I've heard, most of which seemed to be trying to say he was an asshole without actually burying him.

Also, his father Joe Blanchard was an utterly honest and sincere individual based on my experience

As a Tully fan, I honestly thought he fell off the face of the earth.

Yeah, many said he was born to be a heel because he was a miserable person to be around.

Tully had several things going for him in the early years that made him what he was. First, there was nepotism, as his dad Joe gave him a plum spot. That said, Tully kinda deserved the spot because he was damned good...and Tully knew it. His time with Gino Hernandez is where he really started going into full "Kliq mode" though - Tully and Gino as the Dynamic Duo were the original Horsemen in a way, living their gimmick and hitting the parties and cocaine super-heavy, with girls on each arm and etc., etc. People sort of forget that part, but Tully was the backbone of that aspect of the 4H's gimmick. Even Flair hadn't quite gone into the "Wheelin' and dealin'/Space Mountain" attitude that Tully had until later.

Tully was so hateable You could see why some fans would cheer for Flair, Arn or Luger but not Tully
