I finally got around to watching those AVGN script for charity videos he made a few years ago.
In one of them, he mentions that he was sick, then clarifies "I was really ill, for like 4 months and couldn't do a lot". What happened there? That's a long time, and kind of distressing that clarified "Ill" more than "sick".

Which one was this? I assume it was one of the Pat the NES Punk NES Marathon vids he does every year (assuming the donation incentive is met, which to my recollection it always has been).
The only two (recent) hiatuses I can recall him being on was when he put everything on hold due to some complications with his newly-born daughter in 2013. He intentionally kept details scarce on that until later on, but I don't recall him creating something to detract from it. He did just say "complications" out of the gate, and only once his daughter recovered did he go into detail (nerve damage in her arm preventing her from having full movement, but had regained it through physical therapy and has been fine since). The other time being when he was in full-effort mode for the movie and not focusing on much else.
He has mentioned he was in a car crash in 04, but that would've been well before he did any charity reviews.
Other than that I've never known him to have any other scares or hiatuses. All I can guess is either he was under the weather and didn't put out a lot at the time, or he was "in character" and referencing an event in a past review.

This could also refer to the time in early 2010 when he suffered from burnout as a stress result, took a brief hiatus and then changed the schedule to one episode per month instead of two episodes per month.
