Here's hoping EVIL beats Goto, and Minoru Suzuki is used to "break" Tana and give him some much needed time off.

Look like some good shows coming up, love the storylines going into these matches. Okada/Goto challenging for the tag titles is a fun idea and makes it easier to gloss over the fact that SANADA has no chance of winning the belt. I wonder when the cards will be announced, especially for the Sapporo shows?
Also, I'm guessing this thread will be used for Fantasticamania. I love these shows, any announcements on the participants?

Really hoping Tana gets murderized here, not because of any ill will to him, but because he needs to be given a long-ass time off to rest up before his body just gives out completely. Let him get the kind of f***ed up where he disappears for a year like Undertaker and comes back looking for vengeance and build to the big return match against Suzuki at WK13 where he's looking to avenge himself.

Pretty crazy how long Tanahashi has persisted in spite of everyone wishing he'd get a mercy killing for his own sake. Feels like it's been years. Great card here, everything looks interesting. I'm all aboard the growing Kazuchika Okada title monopoly.

I'm all aboard the growing Kazuchika Okada title monopoly. Especially when you consider how long it has been more than just a niggling injury. Like it's been pretty damn serious since at least as long as the G1 where he faced Shinsuke in the final (2015?).

LIJ vs. Okada/Goto is a great idea, and something NJPW should have been doing a lot more over the past couple of years. AJPW and NJPW both largely built their tag belts around having main event level talent that wasn't in a singles title feud go for those belts, leading so great clashes involving top draws. NJPW today obviously puts more into its singles heavyweight scene, hence the multitude of singles belts now, but allowing non-full time teams to challenge especially as part of a feud/storyline makes so much sense; makes the tag belts look more important and opens up an avenue to strongly put over EVIL and SANADA in case they lose their singles title challenges. Hope this is part of the plan going forward to revitalize the belts and not just trade them between a few big gaijin teams (no slight against GoD or KES, just want things to mix up a bit more).
Makes me think of the Samoa Joe vs. Briscoes feud in ROH from 2003; Jay and Mark both challenges Joe for the World Title and couldn't beat him, but Joe kept challenging them with different partners for the tag straps and couldn't get the job done; after all, it makes sense that a team that's worked together more would have success.
Last couple of New Beginnings I've been cheering for Okada's challengers (Goto and Suzuki), but I'm all for him here; I dig SANADA, but it's not his time yet.

I'm hoping Suzuki puts Tana on the shelf, but we were all thinking it was a slam dunk that Switchblade would do it as well.

Tana probably gets murdered by an even crazier bald Minoru which should write him off for a good while and hopefully be back for G1 and some revenge on Minoru
I'm liking the tag match which helps get your mind off the fact SANADA has no chance of winning the title but giving him and EVIL these big matchups keeps the tag team scene fresh
If Jericho has another great performance I can see him coming back for Long Beach and getting a match with Okada assuming he's still champ

What a weird ass/riveting card. Goto/EVIL as well as the tag title match sounds dope. I know the majority thought White would beat Tanahashi at WK..but dudes gotta go down here. Finish him so he can get some rest. I don't see White beating Omega.. and the character work in Naito/Jericho will be awesome. Quite a story to tell there.

Iizuka against Jun Kasai is that kind of match that you don't know if it's going to be surprisingly good or insanely shit.

I'm thinking regardless, though, Jericho vs. Jay White seems more possible for SSE. Not that I should speak as if I know anything about NJPW, though. If EVIL wins at New Beginning while Sanada and Naito lose, then they pretty much have to do a "tension building in LIJ" story, don't they?

For whatever reason I didn't think White was a shoe in. I predicted him to win but let's be real here. If Tanahashi is anywhere near 100% would he remotely job to Jay White? The dude is sooooo not over and it was made even worse that his big debut/return angle was right after the Jericho/Omega initial angle.

Are we sure Jericho/Naito is happening at New Beginning?
His tour might preclude him from coming back that early. They might save it for Dominion.

I wouldn't say it takes Jericho out the running because more so Jericho can just challenge Okada and the match is set or Okada calls out Jericho for his sneak attacks and disrespecting the fans Also if EVIL wins I wouldn't say you have to do the tension building storyline. They sort of did it last year with SANADA and Evil as far as who was the number 2 man in the group and Naito let it play out between them. The group is too popular to tease dissension especially since they are on that same path with Bullet Club but you never know
