Or has he always been this lame?
Admittedly, I stopped watching TNA long before this gimmick began, so all I really know is that he had a drone and a gardener, and he said things like "Delightful!", "Delete!", and "A Delapitated boat!"
Now, though? All he does is talk with an accent and laugh obnoxiously for minutes at a time. Surely there's supposed to be more to him than this?

Yes, it's always been this way
The fun of the gimmick is how over the top and cheesy it is and hopefully they still keep the same formula for the matches

And funny enough? It's still working. The crowd ate up that laugh off tonight even as some FANers shit on it. There should be more being done here though, as there is more to Matt than the laugh and the goofyness there is a whole basic world they can work in which he plays off of beautifully. Currently the only thing keeping this afloat is the basic aura of Woken Matt as a whole and hey it's working. I still find it amusing these two just stared and laughed and it was totally over. I hope that makes the writers feel like shit.
Also I dig Matt's new theme, I wanna hear the full version.

It's one of those things that suffers under house show "same segment every week for X amount of shows" combined with Vince's "you get one trait" booking.

There's not going to be amazing segments like final deletion because WWE wants to be in control, so you're just going to get catchphrases that you'll be sick of right around...now.
It worked in TNA because they didn't do crap. "Go ahead, do whatever, doesn't cost us anything"

....it’s been one match.
and we haven’t even got into possible Hardy Compound/Senor Benjamin/Vanguard1 batshit insanity stuff.
i’m gonna give me the benefit of the doubt for now

I think they're saving the best for WrestleMania. Maybe not as loony as anything that Matt did in TNA but it'll be close. So why not do a slow build?

I'm skeptical. But hey they might prove me wrong so that's ok.

The meat and potatoes of the act is the stuff they do at the Hardy house, but WWE are more paperwork-heavy than TNA are, so they’ve probably got lawyers with King Maxel and Vanguard 1 negotiating performer contracts. That takes a while.

I wouldn't hold my breath. See, the whole crazed Broken Matt and Brother Nero stuff happened in a weird era of TNA where Dixie Carter was trying to sell to Anthem and thus the creative really, really didn't care what anyone did. Hence the Hardys were allowed to just do whatever insanity they wanted. The Broken Matt stuff works best when he has full control and it's a major part of a show, not just a token wacky segment lasting 5 minutes.

Can't say yet, but the "Matt can only laugh weird" shit is getting old.

That takes a while. Yea, I would assume they are going to do something that allows Reby, the kids, Senior Benjamin anyone involved to make some money off this time and be on some type of official paperwork unlike what happened in TNA

From what I've seen and granted I haven't really watched much WWE in recent weeks.
Yeah, it's pretty much the same as it ever was.
It was mostly the stuff like the Final Deletion that people liked, heavily edited pre-tape work since inside regular ring stuff was still just Matt Hardy.

Yea, it's not like Impact didn't feature Matt on multiple segments every week Matt is just getting more in ring time as compared to before but obviously they haven't gotten to the "fun part" which is the actual amount of craziness that will be the match at Hardy or Wyatt compound

The real money with Matt is the stuff filmed in the Hardy compound, which is why I really to see a Hardy WWE Network show. Just thirty minutes each week of Final Deletion-style madness, sparring sessions with kangaroos, Telenova-esque family dramas. Let Matt do all the stuff they won't devote several segments to on Raw.

The laughing thing is pretty questionable, he didn't do it this excessively before. Of course it could be just for the Wyatt feud. Possibility this is to turn Wyatt face.

I missed Raw and just saw a clip of his entrance. Really liking this new theme! Hopefully they expand on his character more.
