I only remember a drunk Terry Funk yelling at Todd Pettingik that his mother was a whore. Called Vince a Yankee Bastard.

Shotgun would've been a good show for the lower card guys to hone their craft, kind of like an ECW but not as violent. Lief Cassidy, Aldo Montoya, Bart Gunn, Tom Brandi, Bob Holly and a few others were doing nothing but perhaps if ECW and WWF had a working relationship, maybe Paul E. could give WWF some ideas for these guys do something big on Shotgun.

All unbleeped when you originally watched it. Fun times. Seeds were planted for a Marc Mero heel turn on Rocky Maivia as well. Shame Marc blew out his knee.

The first 6 weeks or so was stand out good, but the syndication market had died off and I'd wager the WWF took a bath running those shows each week. At a time where ECW was the underground hot product, Shotgun offered a little taste of it to the masses. Did anything important ever happen on Shotgun after the change? Only thing I remember off hand is that the Patriot and someone (Goldust?) worked Neidhart and Owen on a post-Montreal show, which served as a blow off of sorts for the Canada/USA feud as most of the Hart Foundation went off to WCW and the Patriot suffered a serious arm injury.

Last year I re-watched as much raw, shotgun and superstars from 97 as I could stand and January 97 was a booking mess on Raw Mero and Sable are smiley happy babyface with no relationship issues then the same week Mero’s teasing a heel turn leaving Sable alone in the ring with Honkytonk Man and then on superstars Mero is a babyface wrestling Undertaker and sable is teasing a heel turn wearing sunglasses indoors and hitting taker with a back leg front kick to the armpit.

With the horror stories my parents used to tell me about escalators as a kid I kept waiting for Triple H's long hair to get stuck in the escalators spokes and his head to get ripped off. Brodie? Brodie: I don't believe it, Triple H is back.. on the escalator again! T.S: Leave it alone! Brodie: What?!

I remember a Raw magazine around that time teasing the same Sable turn. They kept calling her "the Black Cat".

I remember that too wwf magazines did a lot of stories that teased things that never happened on tv like the Sunny/Brian Pillman relationship or Jack Tunney being on the take.In the case of Tunney that evidence was pretty damning and everyone should have listened to Bad News Brown and Bobby Heenan they were just trying to help. WWF tv in early 97 baffled me at the time and makes less sense to me now 3 shows with 3 very different feels, stories with a lot of the same characters that didn’t continue on the other shows. On shotgun Brother Love managing The Headbangers as nuns and Sunny having sex with Elmo and then stealing his member,Superstars having Cibernético and Pierroth as part of the tag division,On raw having sunny come out for every Rocky Maivia match teasing something with them and then just dropping it

Wow, Jake Roberts wrestled on Shotgun in '97? Just watched it - Triple H does commentary. That seedy environment with the girls dancing seemed...fitting....for Jake Roberts.

Was this the one vs Salvatore Sincere when Sincere did this somewhat ridiculous/oversold faceplant for the DDT? If so, that holds the honor, I guess, of being Jake's last match in the WWF/E. I remember a Raw magazine around that time teasing the same Sable turn. They kept calling her "the Black Cat". Oh, that's so a Marvel Comic reference from someone at the mag. Because Sable did used to sport outfits that resembled Felicia Hardy: the Black Cat....
