The NFL is already under a lot of pressure by health groups because it turns out that, even with precautions taken, it's an ultra-violent sport where people sustain permanent damage from brain trauma that leads to a host of issues later in life including premature death from health factors or suicide.
So the XFL will likely address this by throwing caution to the wind and renaming concussions "funcussions!" Which is how the concussed players will end up pronouncing it after their fifth or sixth one in a single season.

There's a place for an inbetween College/NFL sort of development league, but I'm not going to pretend like I know how to make it work I wish him the best... but holy shit why AGAIN On the flip side, Vince attempting the XFL again completely explains Roman getting a 7th coronation. If you don't succeed, try-try-try-try-try-try again despite losing millons every god damned time I really don't believe there is room for a dev league. You already have the NCAA which is the farm league, and the CFL which bring football to a Canadian market which apparently supports it pretty well. You would have to go to secondary cities in the US and hope they dig 2nd rate football. Dev leagues even with the backing and affiliation of pro teams like the G league and minor league baseball struggle or fail to turn a profit. The USFL, NFL Europe, and XFL all went belly-up because you have to put so much money and time in and you're operating without a safety net. Which is why most living dev leagues have pro team affiliates to offset cost. NFL Europe was owned by the NFL, never had more than 10 teams, and still went belly-up. The NFL owning it just delayed it another 10 years. The best chance a dev league not affiliated with pro teams has to work is if you get great team owners willing to eat financial losses for a while, get a good but reasonable TV deal with someone like NBC Sports, and grow organically over the first 10 years. Vince is an idiot outside of wrestling, and fails to understand this. And this will be yet another developmental league that dies rather quickly.

Ah Vince, just because the president texted you at 3AM and double dogged dared you to do this (yes I think that’s exactly what happened here) doesn’t mean you should.

Hopefully it’s not going to be branded as old fashioned smash mouth football this time around. That would be very out of touch with the concern about concussions and brain damage being so prevalent in recent years.

No way it's going to work, especially if the reason I've heard he wants it is right (and I can't reveal it because it's political.)

Pretty much the most likely route, which give the devil his due, he's pretty ballsy to try and revive this.

WWE promoting this is pretty bizarre. Weren't they pretty adamant that there was no association between them and Alpha even though Vince founded it? Especially since stock went down because of it.

Alpha Entertainment sounds definitely like a name Vince would come up with.

I am so happy he's bringing one of his biggest failures of all time back.
I hope we get a second WCW invasion after WrestleMania too.
Buff Bagwell and Roman Reigns for the title baby.

He's even said he's open to selling the WWE during that conference call this week. Guess he's trying to end it all before he jumps in that casket.

I don't know what to think about this. In one sense, it makes me think that he's going to be so wrapped up in this that he'll either step down from WWE or sell it. I worry about how that will affect the talented men and women who work in for WWE.
On the other hand hand, Vince is crazy enough to try to balance both. But on that end, I don't know how much time I give him if he's trying to promote and push two major entertainment programs as a as a 75 year old with the proposed 2020 start date.
Maybe he's tired of wrestling because a growing section of the crowd is not into what he's selling at this point. Who knows? But I think this will be a big failure if it actually makes it to the first snap. The CTE education we have now will probably make most people's weary of watching a product that is too flagrant in its smash mouth style, if it takes the same stance as the last XFL attempt. Some of diehards won't care and will watch for the "just bleed" factor, but it will be even more of a niche that pro wrestling already is.
Bottom line line, Vince is crazy and that can be awesome, but if it takes away from the hard work that the current roster does and has done for him, then I can't really support him in his little pet project.
