Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Tomohiro Ishii for the British Heavyweight Title added to the Revolution Pro show.
Shane Strickland will appear on the first PROGRESS show (the 6th).

Matt Riddle has become number one contender for the EVOLVE championship and earns his shot against ZSJ in New Orleans. I'm assuming it's at 102 because at 103 it's Riddle vs Sekimoto

Whatever happened to WWE trying to prevent other companies from renting space in the city during Wrestlemania weekend?

Whatever happened to WWE trying to prevent other companies from renting space in the city during Wrestlemania weekend? I'd think that considering that PROGRESS is one of the shows that are growing to be regular attendees of WrestleCon, it'd probably be unwise to push an event they can have some piece in away from the rest of WrestleMania to keep things good. Like, last year it was a big deal that the WWE UK Champion was at WrestleCon so I'd think they'd appreciate that sort of buzz. Wouldn't shock me if one of these shows booked a UK title match shortly. Not Joey Janela's Spring Break, as cool as that would be.

Whatever happened to WWE trying to prevent other companies from renting space in the city during Wrestlemania weekend? I think for the most part it's still happening. WWE can't prevent private hotels they aren't working with from booking events at their venues (like Wrestlecon) and no other public venues are being used within the downtown area of New Orleans. WWN is running near the airport, while ROH is a good 10 miles away at a college owned arena. Think it's become the new common thing for each of the other companies to run a little bit away or in a hotel they can secure. Will be interesting to see what happens next year with New Jersey/New York as if I remember right Wrestlecon booked out the area/convention center that WWE initially wanted to use since it was in the vicinity of MetLife Stadium and, the still being used at the time, Izod Center. Then again, WWE might try to run everything more near the Barclays Center.

WWE doesn't really care at this point. Plus they have good relationships with several of the promotions that do Mania weekend events every year (EVOLVE, PROGRESS, SHIMMER). It would be foolish on their part to spend money to rent out all of the potential locations for indy shows every year, just to try to stop them from running shows. And honestly, they couldn't even if they wanted to. There's always going to be somewhere that can fit 500 people for a wrestling show, whether it be a gymnasium, VFW hall, National Guard Armory, Elk's Lodge, rec center, hotel ballroom, etc.

After reading of Great Muta's impending knee surgery next month I have decided to remove him from the Kaiju show. He was never really formally announced anyhow.
Also, before anyone asks, Impact announced Scott Steiner but he's very likely not wrestling on the card.

These other companies aren't dumb enough to run up against WrestleMania, the Hall of Fame or NXT (except ROH for that one, and it's not dumb, it's bold) so what does the WWE care? It only brings more fans to the city and WWE can claim in the end that they brought everybody there. It's win/win!

Whatever happened to WWE trying to prevent other companies from renting space in the city during Wrestlemania weekend? I don't know if they're still doing it, but what happened during Mania 31 where this first happened was that they were able to talk the city, as part of the deal to get Wrestlemania, into a no-compete clause where nobody else would be able to book a city-owned venue for wrestling, and were able to get a lot of major hotel chains in the area to do the same--it's been said before that big hotels love WWE due to the sheer volume of business they get from Vince. If this is still going on, that doesn't preclude groups from finding non-city venues they can book wrestling shows, or from hotels that don't lock themselves down to the deal. Unless WWE wanted to pay off every venue in the whole New Orleans Metropolitan Area, there'll always be somewhere for indie shows and Wrestlecon to find something. Also WWE can throw its weight around on a municipal government level because of the deal, but any further pushes on private businesses would open WWE up to antritrust problems.

That Streets of Rage tribute was excellent, especially the end with Michaels, Jannetty, and Glacier.
