Nah, I'd say Arizona still has them beat. Pottsville won't let them win until they give it back... At least the Colts have a couple of Super Bowls under their belts and won fairly recently in 2007. The Cards are one of the oldest teams in American professional sports (first established in 1898), and not only have they never won a Super Bowl, but haven't won any sort of NFL league championship since 1947. That's what I was going for. Arizona, I feel, is "cursed" until they right a wrong in the eyes of many and give back the 1925 NFL Championship to Pottsville.

This is going to hurt him in the long run. If I am a free agent, do I want to sign with a team helmed by a man whose word has been proven to be worthless? If I’m a coaching candidate, do I trust McDaniels as my head coach when he left his support staff in Indy twisting in the wind? Most NFL players, and most professional athletes for that matter, care about two things: money and winning. If the Patriots under Josh McDaniels are Super Bowl contenders and if there are enough zeroes on the check, players won't give two s**ts about his level of loyalty. Look at the Malcolm Butler situation right now. Sure, he's presumably steamed about his lack of playing time in Super Bowl LII, but if the Patriots outbid everyone else and throw a ton of money at him in the off-season, and if they're still in line to be a contender for Super Bowl LIII, he's going to stay in Foxboro.

Makes sense. The agent probably hypes up Josh. Says how excited he is to come to the Colts and be a head coach again with a QB ready to get back on the field. Jumps through all the hoops, puts out all the fires. Then Josh pulls the rug out from under everybody. As an agent, you see and hear how everybody thinks your client is a snake and a liar. Nobody will believe a word he says again. Best to shed that headache. Especially if he kept the agent in the dark too.

I don't see Malcolm Butler going back to them regardless of how much they offer him. The asking price to look past doing that to a proud man is likely higher than any team would cough up for anyone other than a star QB. I'm not even addressing who is right and who is wrong in that situation (I suspect it probably is Belichick, though his teammates sticking up for him gives me pause). I just think it is too toxic a thing for someone who has other options. As far as coaches go, an assistant coach's career is shaped by their head coach and coordinators are always the first to take the blame. This would be especially true if the HC is selfish and self centered. Do even good guys screw over their underlings? Sure (ask Pep Hamilton about Chuck Pagano, but to be fair Hamilton wasn't Pagano's choice in the first place), but if I am a coach I would expect my relationship with McDaniels ending the first time he feels any pressure over losses and he throws me under the bus. I would explore every other option before choosing to work for him. Now, whether McDaniels can actually continue to be a winner when Belichick isn't there anymore and Tom Brady's age finally catches up to him, I don't know. Past experiences do not speak well for him. Again, I was hoping he wasn't the guy the Colts went after for that reason but he was. I would not have such doubts regarding Belichick. He better hope he can, however, because I don't see him getting another shot in the NFL if he doesn't set the world on fire.

What's more, an agent's ability to negotiate is largely predicated by how much the teams trusts him. Sticking with McDaniels under these circumstances, especially if he advised against the move, is untenable.

Ugh, I just was reminded the Cards are the second shittiest NFL team in terms of not winning anything of importance. Thank goodness for the Browns.

Are the Colts cursed? Like The Second most cursed team in this league aside from The Browns?? We're getting there... Nah, I'd say Arizona still has them beat. Pottsville won't let them win until they give it back... As someone who went to Pottsville High School, yes the actual one, I'm ok with that

49ers just paid Jimmy G. $137.5 million over 5 years, the largest per year average in NFL history.

Not sure if he is worth that much, but hey.......we've been saying the Niners need to back up a Brinks truck full of gold on Jimmy G's driveway, and I guess they did so I can't completely fault them.......although this may come back to hurt the cap in the future

This will look much better after Kirk Cousins is making more $$$$ than him, but being severely outclassed. It is what it is. You have a QB, you pay up.

Just shows how QB dominant this league is and how most other positions are just pawns. In the end there is really no negative to sign this obscene contract for the Niners. Worst case scenario Jimmy G sucks and they're back in the same position they were. The upside is better and the front loaded contract helps them down the line.

I think now Aaron Rodgers will get 200 million to return to Green Bay because of that idiotic Carr contract and the drastic overpay for Jimmy G

I think Jimmy G is going to easily wind up a top 10 QB in the league and honestly that's the money they get. Cousins will get more, Rodgers will get more and it's just going to escalate as the league keeps adjusting and changing rules to make this a pass dominant league.
Jimmy G is young, has at the very least proven he's capable of carrying a pretty weak offense and this is the contract they're going to get.
Hell in 4-5 years when Wentz and Goff are up and it's time for Jimmy to resign this is going to look like a bargain.
