So, the Yoko/Luger contract signing...
UFA! UFA! UFA! UFA!
I'm looking forward to the Summerslam 92 episode; wrestling was huge here in the UK at this point, and to have Davey in the main event made it all the more memorable. His match with Bret is still one of my favourites all these years on.

I finished the Summerslam episode recently - thanks for the positive feedback on my comments - and wanted to comment on some of the non wrestling things that took place.
Joe Fowler - was this his only WWF show? I know his tenure was short but I'm sure he was around in early 94. He came across as looking like a generic interviewer type, no standout charisma or identity so maybe this is why he didn't last too long. The WWF had a few short lived announcers around this time - Boni Blackstone, Stephanie Wiand, Charlie Minh (God, I hated him!), so I don't know if they were experimenting with new talent or just using people on a night by night basis.
The Steiner women - God, this was awkward! They had no interest in the product, disliked Pettengill and weren't clued up about protecting kayfabe at all! My main memory of this is of Pettengill asking where Mr Steiner senior was, and they said he was 'at home on the couch'. My main thought on this at the time was 'Some father, not bothering to watch his sons wrestle!'. Thankfully it was quite a short segment, but long enough to be a hard watch.
Bruce Hart getting drenched - Man, that was some funny sh*t! Save for the Hart family match at the 93 Survivior Series, I've never seen Bruce wrestle. However, I've always had the impression that he sees himself as more relevant than he actually is. He just seems to have a conceited air about him, which made Doink soaking him all the funnier! You could tell his reactions were genuine, although he probably also saw it as a chance to get himself over. If he'd made it into the ring and attacked Doink, would it have meant a DQ for Bret? He could have genuinely ruined the match and put plans into disarray. I reckon that they could have arranged something else on the fly, but seeing Bruce trying to go into business for himself was funny and a bit tragic all at once!
As ever, keep up the good work - although it's a shame the Summerslam 92 episode has technical issues. ☹️

Austin and Bob talk about the September 20th, 1993 edition of WWF Monday Night RAW! On the show, Scott Steiner tries to get a rematch against the Quebecers when he takes on Pierre. Plus, IRS shouldn't have too much of a problem with PJ Walker. He SHOULDN'T have a problem with him. Well, Razor Ramon makes it a little more challenging. icopod.podbean.com/e/episode-38-wwf-raw-9201993-can-steiners-get-a-rematch/

As I type this, I'm listening to you guys discuss the Doink face turn.
What a waste of a great character. I get that he was turned face due to the positive crowd reactions he received, but this is due to the depth of the character and Matt Borne's portrayal. He was popular BECAUSE he was an evil clown, and the crowd had a fascination with the character. The character was never as good afterward, and the decision to turn him face was a severe misstep on the management's behalf.
They could have made him even darker and feuded with the Undertaker....but no. A missed opportunity all round.

While it would have been cool to have seen Doink go even darker, it just wasn't meant to be. That being said, WWF did everything they could to kill the character's popularity to the point where it didn't matter what joker was wearing the wig.

And Vince said it was too good of an opportunity to turn down and gave his blessing to let him go early.

Austin and Bob talk about the October 18th, 1993 edition of WWF RAW. The show is heavily focused on the confrontation between Randy Savage and Crush. They were best friends and that friendship is at risk of coming to an end. Can they reunite? Or, is their friendship broken? Join us for episode 42! icopod.podbean.com/e/episode-42-wwf-raw-10181993-the-crushsavage-summit/

I've been on holiday and podcast free for the past two weeks; I'm looking forward to catching up with the shows soon; the Martel/Razor match was pretty good if memory serves.

Our next recording is Survivor Series 1993. What are your thoughts on the pay per view?! We will read any feedback on the show!

I have a weird soft spot for this show, probably because it's Bobby Heenan's last MVP performance as a commentator in the WWF. That said, the opening match is a low-key banger, and the tag team match is hilarious, because while it's a decent match, the Boston crowd was in no way receptive to that old southern wrasslin' style.

The way to crowd just has no interest in the SMW match is interesting because Crockett used to draw well in Boston. So it's clear that Boston used to have to separate groups of wrestling fans with little to know cross over.

Bobby is literally the only saving grace to that Hot Carl of a match. That and MAYBE Bruce trying to kill one of the knights with a lariat.
