Just nothing to do but sigh and shake your head. Judging by how the kids were running, I fear multiple fatalities. I hope I am wrong.
CNN saying this so far: Shooter still at large according to the Broward County Sherrif At least 20 injured according to local news down in the area. A fire alarm was apparently pulled and as students grouped together, the shooter may have opened fire. Unconfirmed report of a student and teacher who may have died. Parent says that at least one person shot in the third floor of the building. FNC saying that shooter is apparently still on campus and police are perhaps heading over there.

Now it sounds like the shooting was in the school and not outside. I guess it might have been someone who escaped that pulled it. If so, that person is a god damned hero.

I'm watching a show on A&E called Undercover High (yeah, I know, "reality show") where young adults go undercover in a high school to get an inside look at some of the issues that high school students, several of whom are at-risk, currently face. The show hopes to use the information gathered to raise awareness and improve the lives of students. On the most recent episode, they participated in something called a "lock down drill." Essentially, it was a drill about what to do if there's an active shooter. I graduated high school back in 2004, and this was so far from anything that we had to consciously worry about. It really took me by surprise and saddened me that this is a fear for today's students. I hope this current situation ends as best is possible - for whatever that's worth. I wouldn't claim to have the answers, but we need to start coming together to do _something_ about these shootings. Yep, I watched that too. I graduated in 2001 and it was so different. Even though there was a lot of school shootings then, specifically Columbine, we never worried about it happening in my school. We might have done a lock down drill once. Maybe. My niece and nephews are in school now, and I couldn't imagine being in school these days.

Hopefully there aren't any fatalities, or at least few. No parent should ever have that fear of their child going to a place that is considered safe, only to find out, that their child was hurt. I will keep them in thought and prayer.

I will keep them in thought and prayer. Senator Nelson on CNN is saying he's getting word of a number of fatalities. The high school and middle school had about 4500 kids. That's a lot. Again, these are the worst stories, and yet very little if anything will be done.

Apparently Senator Bill Nelson of our lovely Sunshine State told Fox News that there are many deaths. Good job asshole. If there wasn’t enough panic before I’m sure the authorities on the scene are going to love dealing with parents freaking out that they want to know if their children are alive.

Also, a student that went to school with him at the shooter at an alternate school said he was a troubled teen with a love of guns that was always showing off his guns in pictures on his phone. He said he constantly avoided him because he was afraid of being in conflict with him because of the impression he gave off.

The man in the maroon shirt that the cops have is now strapped to a gurney and being put in an ambulance. Guessing psychiatric emergency.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of fatalities, I offer my condolences to the families of those who have passed, and, will keep those who were still impacted by it, in my heart. This is something that they will unfortunately always remember.

Student on CNN indicates two people that had sheets on them. A male teacher and a female student.

The superintendent is saying there are numerous fatalities as well. This is sickening.
I remember my buddy had problems with another kid in school. His dad got tired of hearing it, so he drove him to the kid's house and told them to either fist fight or work it out.
Anyways, I'm sure people's thoughts and prayers will fix it this time.

This is gut-wrenching. I just don't understand why this keeps happening and practical measures aren't taken to stop it. I don't want to live in a world where kids have evacuation drills for active shooter situations, I want to live in one where they aren't at such risk of being shot with heavy weaponry in the first place. Here's hoping the news on fatalities is wrong and everyone made it out.

What makes me equally as upset is that while interviewing a student, she said that once the alarm was pulled and people realized what was going on, she said kids were on their phones snapchatting.
Like, how f***ing stupid can you be? How many people died at Pulse nightclub because they had to post on social media instead of getting to safety? That makes me just as sick, that people value "likes" over lives.

Just another week in the US sadly; there has been 18 school shootings in the US this year which is an unfathomable amount when the year is only 6 and a half weeks in
