Asuka puts so much effort into her offense and movements. When she cuts a promo, it's usually short, memorable, and sometimes scary. The cute-and-dangerous look, along with her facial expressions, also help. One of the best female wrestlers not just in WWE, but the world. Now for her thoughts on Ember Moon once again:

I think something that helps is that her background and status means she's avoided the usual traps or crutches of how they've booked the female wrestlers. -She's not related to anyone famous so they can't constantly bring that up -Her lack of English language skills means they can't give her the overly scripted promos or awkward backstage bits -Not on Total Divas so no contrived angle she has to be involved with to cross promote for it -Her background doesn't have easy "relevant" references no random hobby or previous career/job they can constantly shove down your throat via commentary -With her not dating or involved with any wrestler (as far as we know) there's no reason for petty/politcal BS in regards to her angles With Asuka they simply can't rely on the things they think gets the female talent over, so lo and behold they have had to keep it simple and just present her as a badass outsider professional wrestler. And surprise, surprise it worked. Very well said; without the usual crutches they lean on, they're left with presenting her as a professional wrestler. Luckily for them, she's an exceptional professional wrestler. When they do the other stuff, they take talented people and make them feel ordinary, which to me is a big reason why they're so bad at creating new stars. Asuka gets to keep an aura about her and a sense of mystery, for lack of a better word, and combined with her talents it puts her across as something greater than just another person who "always dreamed of having a WrestleMania moment" or some other buzzword nonsense.

Truthfully, I think the limited English works for her, because they're not going to saddle her with 10 minute promos written by people who don't know how real humans speak.

Her Englishis actually pretty darn good for a non-native speaker As a non-native speaker, it really isn't. I know it is extra hard for Japanese People since it uses sounds they basically don't know how to use, but it is passable english ,not pretty good. She can make short straight to the point sentences which is pretty much what she needs. She plays it up; she'll never be fluent but she speaks English well enough from what I've seen outside of interviews and promos.

She can speak English. They just don't give a mic often. I do find it racist when people assume she's unable to do so. She can. Not pretty good english. It is different.I can speak Japanese, but just like her with English, without reading soemthing in front of me,I can only speak very simple sentences. Since when did the ability to speak fluent English matter? If it bothers people so much, why not pair her with Heyman?

With the over saturation it's rare to have anything feel unique especially over a long period of time, anything that stands out in a good way will be appreciated. Even if that thing that stands out is James Ellsworth.

Her English will probably pick up soon, in Orlando she had the option of finding a Japanese speaking community to hang out with if she was so inclined now shes on the road she'll git gud fast. Although I agree with the sentiment that the short to the point mic work benefits her so even if she is/becomes good they may hide it. Funaki was so good at English he was able to keep his job for a decade due to being a good egg backstage but you wouldn't know it from his TV time.
As to how she works, it's just 'it' really, a fun character, good offence and just a natural charisma that doesn't need words to express itself. How many words of English did the Undertaker speak during his first few years?

Part of it is that people seem to think she is some sort of real life badass. That couldn’t be farther from the truth but the mystique helps.

She is just good at this shit. She gets it. She understands wrestlers need to be colorful as hell- both in their looks and their mannerisms and presentation. Then, she is just awesome in the ring. The best pro wrestlers of all time do the little things- Asuka does the little things. The way she fills in the gaps between her big spots is awesome. A master at all aspects of professional wrestling. Honestly is the closest thing we have seen to a female Randy Savage, the highest of compliments.

Historically the company will rarely get completely behind you unless you can cut a good promo. To actually answer your question I'd assume being a good promo has been important for at least 30-40 years but I don't know for sure. She's doing fine on her own and doesn't need Heyman. Also as much as I love him Heyman has been a touch of death managing anyone not named Lesnar.

And it does matter to some wrestler, others can overcome it.Speaking English is a great asset for promos. As some might have said ,it might have helped her so they cant write stupid promos for her, but people like when wrestlers can cut good lengthy promos.

Speaking in general, since others share similar sentiments. I think the proliferation of social media helps wrestlers who wouldn't otherwise appear on WWE's radar. Just saying that maybe that's no longer one of the requirements in WWE since there are other ways for wrestlers to get over.

With regards to her ringwork, one thing that hasn't been mentioned is how good she is at making everyone suspend disbelief. Except when facing jobbers, Asuka doesn't crush her opponents like a Goldberg or a Strowman. Despite the fact that everyone expects her to win every big match, Asuka makes the crowd believe that THIS match is the one she's going to lose. And it works every time. This. She's a great talent who makes others look great too.
