Is Mountains of Madness any good? I've seen it for cheap recently and was thinking bout picking it up as I admittedly haven't gotten into much Lovecraft yet.

The book is simply titled, Bob Dylan, written by Anthoy Scaduto. As the back cover info points out, "the book was written in the seventies by a former crime reporter and self-described 'mafia expert', this book was not only the first serious study of Dylan's life and work, but also a landmark in the way popular music was written about." And then there's more. Then at the bottom, with the quotes and reviews of it from journalist 'n such, the last one is from Bob himself who says, "I read it. Some of it is pretty straight, some of it exactly the way it happened... I rather enjoyed it."
Out of the 27 books I have on Dylan, I've had this one for quite a while, and it's just been sitting on the shelf. So, a few days ago figured I'd finally decided to crack this one (also one of the reason why I haven't been on as much), only reached the 111 page marked Chapter Nine thus far, titled 'Blowin' in the Wind', and already this is from a Dylan aspect THE Bob Dylan books to end all Dylan books.

I just started another round with Catcher in the Rye today, it's a classic that deserves to be re-read.

I saw it at Hasting's for five bucks when I picked up Moby Dick, so I may have to snag it next week.

Surpressed Transmissions by Kenneth Hite. It's a book about using conspiracy theory and alternate history in role-playing games and creative writing. I loaned my copy to a friend about 18 months ago and got the replacement copy this week (he lost it... I don't blame him, I've see his place). He also had (and lost) my copy of Surpressed Transmissions 2 and says he will replace it as soon as he can find one. I checked it out online... it's out of print and I can only get a copy if I want to spend $70 for a used one.
For Christmas I'm giving someone Star Wars: Tag and Bink Were Here.

A History of God by Karen Armstrong: Traces the history of Judaism, Christianity and Islam with quick stopovers in Hinduism and Buddhism. A bit dense in the beginning when Armstrong is juggling four different religions to explain the rise of monotheism but has since picked up. Interesting to note the important of Greek Rationalism in all three religions.
George Washington and Benedict Arnold: A Tale of Two Patriots: Chronicles the two top generals in the Revolution and why one became America's greatest hero while the other became her greatest villain.
