Glad he's ok but I'm not surprised it happened

I'd say it's surprising since he's apparently taken better care of himself over the past number of years (likely since his dad died due to a similar heart attack), but that doesn't always stop something like this from happening, especially if you have a history of not caring enough for yourself or might have a hereditary disposition.
His story on Facebook about it is scary, but he faced it well, by the sound of things.

Aside from being thankful that he survived, I'm also thankful that the first headline I saw put "survived" before "Kevin Smith" and "massive heart attack."

I'm really glad Kevin Smith survived. He's generally come across as a goodnatured guy.

100% blockage is insane.. Given he regularly gorged himself on high-fat food for 30 years, smoked up to two packs a day from '93-2010, maintained a sedentary lifestyle the whole time, and his father died of a heart attack, I think the only surprising thing is he didn't have a heart attack sooner. So glad he pulled through though. He's a good dude.

It'd be cool if Jon Peters visited him and did the "screen-in-my-mind" gesture to cheer him up.

I read about the heart attack this morning, then on the way to work I was listening to one of his podcasts from a week or so ago. The co-host said something about fruit and Kevin replied "Do I look like I eat fruit?" or something similar. All I could think was maybe you should have buddy.

I am a big Kevin Smith fan, I love his podcasts and his movies. But, one of my pet peeves is people who are proud of being unhealthy, and that aspect of his personality always rubbed me the wrong way. Hopefully, this gets him to make some serious lifestyle changes.

Hopefully, this gets him to make some serious lifestyle changes. I think a lot of that is self deprecation, more than anything else. He lost a shitload of weight, so it's not like he didn't care. This is one of those long time coming kind of problems, not like he had a hamburger a week ago and he almost died.

Yeah, his supposed pride about how fat and unhealthy he is goes right along with him always talking about having a small dick or being a terrible filmmaker. Constantly making jokes about it is a coping mechanism for his insecurities.

Holy shit, he was lucky to survive that. I know they say it's never too late to make positive changes for your health, but damage done is damage done (and sometimes genetics is just not on your side). Scary stuff. Hope he makes a full recovery.
