I remember reading here that a dinosaur was found recently with DNA still intact on it. I wonder if it would be cloned secretly just to study it. If cloning dogs and monkeys has been perfected I can imagine that being attempted. Not sure how much of a difference in difficulty there is from cloning warm blooded mammals or cold blooded reptiles though.

She should clone herself, and an army of Barbra Streisands can then take over the world.

"If you're enormously wealthy, you can extend your time with your beloved dog by having a perfect copy made, thanks to science."
I know it's pedantic, but this notion irritates me. It's not extended time, your dog is dead. The clone may be physically identical and have common traits, but factors other than genetics influence personality/behaviour. It's not the same dog.

I highly doubt there's any DNA intact, as regardless of how it happened, it's going to degrade over time, especially millions of years. Even resin encased DNA is not going to survive for very long. Your only chance here is to reverse engineer what you think that animal looked like. Now something like a Wooly Mammoth? Possibly. 40,000 year old DNA may still be functional, but who knows how they're going to do it. Crossbreeding elephants over the years has resulted in numerous infant deaths, the most successful of them only living a few days. Hate to be the "they had their time" guy, but it just seems like a massive waste of resources to get something that isn't remotely legit.

I bet the poor 'distant cousin' dog probably gets treated terribly by the other two.

When I want a clone dog, I just go to Sonic or the county fair.

I don’t understand why you would clone a dog when you can find a dog of the same breed that looks just like the dog that you had, the future is weird,

Let's face it, it's just a ruse on her part to distract us from the giant Streisand Mechazoid she's got them building for her.

If you're referring to the proteins found from a year ago, that still isn't going to get you very far. That isn't intact.
