Has anyone else had 3, maybe 4, pretty different characters successfully be involved in the mid-card or above in a major wrestling organization?
Papa Shango was a short-term success Kama had a decent mid-card run for a year or two Kama Mustafa has a decent mid-card run for a year or two The Godfather was his most successful run Even The Goodfather found some success (tag team gold)
I say 3-4 because Kama Mustafa and The Goodfather were kind of extensions on Kama and The Godfather. Either way, has anyone successfully portrayed as many characters?

Ah thank goodness. I feared the worst with the limited thread title and wrestling mortality being, well, you know.
The way Wright seems to put it, he de facto retired 3 or 4 times and each time they called him back to convince him to come back. In Foley's first book he says the goofy, fun loving, charismatic Godfather is what Wright was like backstage for years.

He was close to the right guys backstage so there was always a place for him, no matter how awful he was as a performer.

WWE seems to be going all in on the "Voodoo" theme for WM Weekend in New Orleans, so why not have Papa Shango make an appearance?

That’s like counting Kane, DX Kane, Unmasked Kane, ReMasked Kane and Corporate Kane all different characters.

What I wonder is this, I know Kama Mustafa, the part of the Nation of Domination, became the Godfather in the end. But was it ever acknowledge that is 95 character and his 97 character were the same guy?

To what extent were Rikishi's various personas supposed to be the same guy? Headshrinker Difference-maker Sultan Dancing sumo He outright continued to use the name Fatu for the difference maker gimmick, and when Rikishi was introduced originally, they gave him "Phatu" as a last name. Really the only one not connected is The Sultan.

Were Mabel, Viscera and Big Daddy V acknowledged as the same guy? Mabel and Viscera definitely were since they did the big angle for the transition at Rumble 99. Not sure if they ever really brought up Viscera during the Big Daddy V run but I don’t think they denied it as such. Big fan of Wright also. More than anyone probably should be.

I know a thread of this guy has been done before, but what about Crush? I know that his convict gimmick transitioned into the DOA gimmick, but was he still acknowledged as being from Hawaii? I mean the face version of the character from with the orange tights was definitely the same as when he turned heel and started having the makeup. Now that I think about it, what about when he was a part of Demolition?

Once he was done with Demolition, I don't recall them EVER bringing that up again, even in the earliest days of the Kona Crush gimmick.
