Unless Bischoff was combining separate things in his head on the podcast, WCW was apparently going try to do NWO Nitro in 1999 with Thunder being a WCW-branded show run by kayfabe WCW President Ric Flair. Giving Nitro to the NWO was also planned for early-1998 when Thunder started. I knew about the 1998 idea but had never heard they planned on trying it in 1999.

So how's their chemistry? Conrad busts his balls when he lies?

So how's their chemistry? Conrad busts his balls when he lies? Conrad kind of went a little overboard busting Bischoff’s balls this week in my opinion. I am interested in next week, they are doing Bret Hart. Haven’t heard Bischoff talk about that a whole lot.

I think that must be legit, he mentioned NWO Nitro and WCW Thunder several times throughout the show.

I want to give it a listen but Bischoff always tells the same stories I almost know all of them word by word. I won't spoil it for you but he has discussed Bret Hart a lot, both in his book and in shoots.

Bischoff never wanted anything to do with Thunder, it was forced on him by Turner. I wouldn’t be shocked at all that he made more then just the one attempt to split it off as it’s own thing and get someone else looking after it

I tried listening to this weeks episode, but Bischoff just went on a tangent about the corporate setting and change after Time Warner got involved. Conrad needs to focus more on keeping Bischoff on topic and not playing the politician.

I was genuinely surprised when Eric Bischoff said “well that’s the opinion of someone who has never booked anything” paraphrasing, but was directing that towards Conrad. And Conrad came back with “yea well what are you booking these days?” and Bischoff replied with stunned silence. But, to defend Bischoff, can Conrad really not understand the difference between freaking Brian Clark and Goldberg?

I have mostly been a Bischoff apologist here, but that might have been the greatest moment in the history of podcasting. Bischoff was silent for a long while after that.

Fun times!

So how's their chemistry? Conrad busts his balls when he lies? Conrad/Prichard: Prichard will tow the WWE line, Conrad calls him on it, Bruce will get indignant or match Conrad's anger leading to some awkward moments. Conrad/Schiavone: Schiavone not being in the booking can't really give that perspective so it's much more going off on dirty tangents between the two. If that's your humor it's a great podcast, but if you don't like going blue it's not for you. Conrad/Bischoff: (Based off my listening to one episode) Bischoff is much more of a businessman/politician, so when Conrad calls him on something it's less of a pissing contest like Prichard/Conrad. Bischoff is very good at smooth talking without the need to raise his voice. All 3: Knocking Meltzer/Alvarez and the dirt sheets.

'Bret came in with a negative attitude after Montréal, we were all set to give him a huge push but he went along with the sh*tty booking we gave him to be a team player. We were just testing him! If he had politicked and befriended Hogan then pushed to undermine everyone else around him then we'd know he really wanted to be #1 and wouldn't have squandered his debut as we did at starrcade 87 then flipped him from face to heel every other show to kill his heat! It was all Bret and not my fault in any way despite giving Hulk Hogan the power of veto over his booking! Everything bad was someone else!'

The show is a bit uncomfortable to listen to b/c you don't know if Conrad's ball busting will eventually piss Eric off and he'll stop doing the show. Out of the 3, Eric doesn't need the money.

Oh exactly. Eric ducked and dodged with his usual patter and Conrad pinned him to the wall. It was the greatest moment in the history of our sport. It was a shoot, brother.

So how's their chemistry? Conrad busts his balls when he lies? It seems kind of forced to me. Conrad hits Eric with stuff that fans have been critical about him for and Conrad takes some jabs but Eric seems to know they’re coming and doesn’t sell much for him. I’m sure that worked heat was discussed before they put the show together. It probably went like “Hey Eric, I gotta really dig into you because I do that with Bruce and we made a ton of money. You wanna make that kind of money too, right?” It’s like Conrad tries to rile him up for the sake of the show but Eric just isn’t going to get that emotional about it. Eric chimes in and gets excited if he can make someone look stupid. He seems to really enjoy doing that. Eric digs in on Kevin Sullivan and the dirt sheet writers quite a bit. He really gushed over a story he told where he made Goldberg’s agent embarrassed and upset. He also said the high point of his career was making some executive get on one knee at a Christmas party and hand him a dollar because he won a bet over whether or not WCW would be profitable one year. That’s the kind of guy that Eric is.
