I think what bugs me about Conrad is how he comes off like such a lame smark. Like his gimmick is to be the "voice of the fans" and "I'm gonna say what the fans are really thinking!" and it comes off as so lame.
I don't like him either, he seems to get snappy at Bruce if he doesn't get the answer he expected and doesn't seem as easy going as he likes to portray.

I go back and forth on this show all the time. I love hearing the backstage stories from Bruce, seeing the new and sometimes previously unseen clips, and I especially appreciate that they can incorporate footage (even TNA stuff!) into it. That makes it worlds apart from most other podcasts. It's very interesting when it's good, and I love the long-form nature of the videos. They're good to just chill and watch for awhile.
There is just too much getting in the way from this being as good as it could be, though. I don't like the contrarian smarky arguments. Bruce's impressions can be funny, I definitely dig some of them (his Vince is pretty spot-on), but when they become a comedic crutch and happen too often, they can derail a discussion. A little editing can do a long way with this show. Another little criticism is that they'll go on about something meticulously but miss something way more notable. For example, the WWECW episode doesn't even cover Christian's run, Regal & Goldust getting another shot, Sheamus' debut...it's just ignored entirely because Bruce left the company right before this, but that was arguably one of the main highlights of the ECW rebirth. Conrad could not get the hell over the name ECW nor understand Bruce's point about the zombie being there to play on people's expectations. He was downright doo doo butter on this episode.
I would say the overall main qualm I have is that the audio mixing is inexcusably bad. I'll have this thing on my tv late at night and all of a sudden they'll cut to Network footage and the volume will dramatically change. Or worse, Bruce will just start purposely screaming directly into the mic and it clips like crazy. The levels are all over the place, and I have no idea why they can't get a better setup when they're now on The Network and should have better overall production. I've seen small time Twitch channels that have audio figured out...what gives?
I know I'm ranting a bit here, but I really want to like this show consistently. They have something here that feels different for The Network, but they have to get these kinks sorted out.

A lot of the time he comes off like a 6 year old having a tantrum if Bruce doesn't give him the answer he expects to hear.

It's funny, cos there are those stories about Bruce being a bit of a douche, but he comes across so well here. Just a guy who truly loved his job, the company and probably did have a really close relationship with Vince

So odd to have so much TNA footage, with the Global Network plug at the end. Special thanks to Ed Nordholm and Anthem... man. So surreal. So.......they just asked TNA if they could use the footage and they ok'd it?

I swear to Christ I can’t stand Conrad. Talking about them throwing the IC belt in to the river Bruce starts off saying that someone went diving and found the belt then tells the story behind the segment thenbconrad just asks if anyone ever found the belt

Yeah Conrad was really annoying here, saying that Rock was squashed by Austin at In Your House:DX is ridiculous. Austin was fighting off the entire NOD, who cares if he didn't take his vest off during the match?

CM Punk episode next week should be f***ing interesting If it follows the same formula as the "Something to Wrestle" podcasts, he'll only be talking about Punk from when Bruce was employed with WWE. So, until December 2008. Still should be interesting.

Okay, I really liked that episode. They spent tons of time talking about his time in The Nation, which is awesome because it gets glossed over sometimes since he excelled outside of it so much. It was fun as hell to grow up watching Rock/HHH/Austin all rise nearly at the same time, and this brought back a lot of memories of what it was like to watch week-to-week.
Looking forward to the Punk episode. Sounds like they'll cover the majority of his run before the heel turn and SES formation.

If I recall right, I think WWE was having Austin do very very little actual wrestling during this time. They knew he was going to have to pick it up come the Rumble and on through Mania, and he'd just come back from his neck injury. His match with Owen at Survivor Series was much the same thing.

Watching the Punk show now, never thought I’d see clips of a Reckless Youth tryout match from 1998.
