If someone is going to be a deluded heel supporter, especially such a blatant one as Graves, they need to occasionally get comeuppance. As it stands, he just sounds like an idiot with his justifications of heel's actions, and he gets away with limited to no challenging. As I said before and elsewhere... I Do think a big problem is that no one tells him to shut up. I mean it'd be like if Heenan kept spouting his bullshit and Gorilla just sat there and didn't try and challenge him.

Remember when Enzo was out there and Graves had nothing to say?

Because if he spent less time starting fights, the commentary would blow a lot less. It's pretty simple.

And that’s why Tom Phillips is Graves’s best foil. He’s the only one who ever tries to keep Graves in line, so as such may be the only one that Graves respects enough to give space to. (Someone who’s more flexible when confronted and challenged... really doesn’t do anything to dispute the Vince influence)

Because commentary is a thankless task. Universally beloved commentators are hard to come by.
(For the record, I like Graves).

I'll be real here, he comes off like a screaming tryhard that has no idea if he's a heel or a face. He comes off like he's trying to be that kind of likable, charming sort of asshole, but he just overdoes it and comes off like an obnoxious blowhard.

He rubbed me wrong starting with the suggesting Enzo should have Sonny Bono's ski instructor. I doubt Vince told him to say that. There's been other things, but that was the main catalyst. I’d honestly be shocked if that WASN’T something Vince told him to say. It's so weirdly specific - as well as being exactly dated enough and tasteless enough - that I think it really was Vince.

It seems like he does straddle the line between LEGITIMATELY and really bullying people. I wouldn't be surprised if it was real in instances. It seems like the verbal fights overshadow the match. He puffs himself up in the dominant position, and it takes away from the matches, and makes the others look like chumps
It's so convincing that many thought his beef with Booker T was real.

He's the best commentator in the company, for me.

He's always rubbed me wrong. The more people froth for him, the more I hate him. The more he goes without getting comeuppance, the more I hate him. He's one of the reasons I don't watch RAW.

We did meet him at a con a few months back and he seems like a decent guy, was pretty cool to us.

I don't hate Graves personally and if anything, he seems like a good dude. But he got McMahoned so hard. I feel bad for him more than anything.

I do love me some Tom Phillips. Commentary was pretty tolerable that one night he filled in for Cole on Raw when Cole's son got married.

Corey threw a pencil at Saxton on SDLive. Not necessary. Grow up, Corey. Haha. He didn't throw it. He calmly flicked it at Saxton as a response to what he said. What was wrong with that? I thought it was a funny little moment between them. Why should he "grow up" for that? Corey knows the product inside and out. He's always refreshing to listen to. Him and Tom are still hands down the best commentary team they've had in ages. Mauro and Daniel Bryan were out of this world for the CWC and Mauro and Nigel in NXT has been terrific as well. My complaints with commentary are when they bring in a third party to babble nonsense like JBL, Booker T, or Otunga. Where it's largely just forgettable noise. But Graves? No, not in that crowd whatsoever. Well it's annoying when he's constantly jabbing at Saxton for no other reason. After what Mauro went through, it just stands out more.
