Also, Robotnik can be scary...but imagine Jim Cummings' voice from SatAM for Eggman here: ![](http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100311220202/archiesonic/images/9/94/Th_DrIvoRobotnik-1-2-.jpg)

I don't mind Eggman, but I never understood why he took on the name for himself. I always thought it was meant to be an insult or something, but nah, Robotnik seems to like it.

I really did love his Robotnik voice in the first 2 Adventure games: The fact that he and John Baldry died months apart is rather creepy.

Why? did he murder his wife and child? I have no idea what you are talking about. By real, I mean he should be presented as a dangerous boss and not a comedy villain. Chris Benoit joke, with the "4 Real" phrase\logo he had.

I'm fine with either. He's been doing egg-theming for forever, so he's as much Eggman as Peter Parker is Spider-Man.

I’m personally fine with both names.
Still, the SatAM Robotnik was his coolest incarnation by far. AOSTH Robotnik is fine, but Jim Cummings was an amazing villain on that show.

I don't mind Eggman, but I never understood why he took on the name for himself. I always thought it was meant to be an insult or something, but nah, Robotnik seems to like it. I can see it as a psychological thing. He realized that Sonic and company were getting some sense of enjoyment of calling him that because of the frustration, so he decided rather than let it continue that way, embrace the name and use it to be something to be feared and respected. Yes that doesn't always work with how his plans unfold, but he tries. Heck, he even convinced his past self to embrace the name.

It's one of the few cases where I prefer the localized name to the original Japanese name.

I mean, "Eggman Empire" sounds a lot better than "Robotnik Empire" so I could see it.
