Seems like every World Cup year, there's a lot of media coverage and commercials and such advertising it in America. This year, virtually none, since, you know, USA failed to qualify. (There was one of those DNA ancestor test kit companies that tried to promote it by helping you find your ancestry from other countries. But since I'm 100% Greek, that doesn't work since Greece didn't make it either.) So will you be watching? I don't know yet, since I got no one to follow, and my interest of soccer overall is minimal. (Other nationalities can post here too, to talk about if they even cover the World Cup if that country doesn't make it. I would think the British are fallowing it since England DID qualify.)

Not a chance, even if Germany is in.
Hell, even if the US team was in I'd be booing the hell out of them anyway.

Watching it. But watching it with less fervor than ever before. My primary team didn’t qualify, and it hurts. It’s not anything against World Cup, because unlike other sports, I’m still going to watch. Still the best sporting event on earth.

Not American
But as an English person I still watched World Cup '94 and Euro 2008.
At least with '94 I still had Ireland to support considering Half my Family is Irish, but '08 I really had no one to support so atleast I could relax whilst watching it,

Not really. I mean, it'll be fun, but I wholeheartedly support our soccer team, which was why I was royally pissed to see them be out for the first time in my life.

I only care when I can be over-the-top patriotic and bombard people with memes of bald eagles. As that won't be possible this year, nah.
Hell, even if the US qualifies for the next World Cup, I won't watch the one in Qatar either.

I’ll definitely be watching. World Cup is just the best. I’ll just cheer for the underdog teams.

This may come across as a massive generalisation but this indicates to me the main reason why in the USA football has never endangered the “Big four” sports level of popularity. In a lot of other countries, people will watch the World Cup regardless of who is playing. They will watch as many games as possible even if it’s a match between two teams who have no hope of progressing. If the tournament is on the other side of the world, they will set their alarm clocks to stupid o’clock to get up and watch Honduras vs Kuwait because it’s a World Cup match. I’m not saying there are no Americans who will watch as many matches as possible but when the National team are not involved there just isn’t the level of casual interest in the sport to make it a “big five” of sport.

I love the World Cup so I'll be watching regardless even if Scotland broke my heart again.

I’ll still be watching as I love soccer.
I know they don’t have much of a real shot but I’ll be backing Iceland, just because they are such a plucky squad.
Also will be backing Japan because, well, have you freaking seen the Japanese fans during the World Cup? They’re quality entertainment in and of themselves!

Germany is my team, so yes.
I'll at least listen to the games. I'm sure some local Spanish-speaking station covers it. (Long as you know the score and names of the teams, it's a lot of fun listening to it.)
It's like a worldwide March madness.

The problem is that there was a load of bandwagon fans during that 2014 run, and once they realized that USMNT was a forty-alarm tire fire, that bandwagon emptied fast.

I always root for USA and Italy in the World Cup, so if there is any interest I have left, it's very minimal.

I'm English and love football and I have no interest in watching the World Cup. International football is so dull to watch.
