Yeah I think in this case WWE would look like ultra petty douches if they did. And frankly I don't think it would even work. Yay, Roman vs. whoever at some lame show vs. All In? Bah. I'd watch All In. You can watch whatever WWE show on the Network later. Traditionally that Labor Day/Post SS time period is a dead zone for WWE anyway. In that regard it's a good move to schedule All In for Sept. 1. Also, NJPW isn't really doing anything during that post G1 lull so it frees up Okada, Omega, etc. to go. I think the real genius move was scheduling Chicago while WWE is building up to Takeover and MITB next month. It's a big enough market to support a big indy show running after a huge weekend of WWE shows, but ensuring WWE couldn't schedule something like a surprise Network special on the same day without looking like the biggest douches in the world.

I don't figure they will because by now there's zero point. If the show still had plenty of tickets for sale I'd imagine they would but by now Cody and the Bucks already illustrated their point.

Ticket sales (and I don't know if this is before or after fees) came out to under $500,000. After all the random costs and salaries, there ain't gonna be much left over. How could you possibly know that? If they sold out a 10K seat arena, I'm pretty sure there's plenty of profit margin in there. Not to mention there's still merch and iPPVs to sell. Because the prices of every ticket are free to find online. Two different people did the math and both of them got around 485,000 as the revenue (not profit) for ticket sales).

I'm not saying how you can know the amount the ticket sales came out to. I'm saying how can you know their expenses means they won't be making any or little money? Find that hard to believe.

The tricky thing is that if there were plenty of tickets for sale why would WWE even bother counter programming against a struggling show? It would be like WWE booking a major show in San Fran over the 4th of July to bury the G1 special when that show has sold like half its tickets.

I don’t think so, but we’re talking about a notoriously petty organization, so who really knows?
That said, it seems kinda late in the game. The show is already sold out.
Now, I think some sort of network special could be in the offing to counter All In if they decide to stream it. Frankly, it would be insane if they didn’t stream it considering the interest. Also, Meltzer says that one of the reasons why Cody and the Jacksons decided against running the Cow Palace for the show is because of streaming logistics (that is, it doesn’t look good on broadcast).
So I could see the WWE running a show in a big city that night with a couple of big matches on top and putting it on the network. As of right now, it doesn’t seem that the WWE is running anything that night.

Even if they don't come out the other end making a ton of money...that wasn't the point of All In to begin with. It was quite literally a gamble made by Cody and the Bucks in response to Dave Meltzer saying Ring of Honor couldn't sell out a 10,000-seat arena "any time soon" in May 2017. Anything else beyond bragging rights and coming out in the black is bragging rights, really.

I think I figured it out. WWE won't be counter programming All In, they're just going to nuke the town by running Roman/Jinder. Cannot hold a show if they leave the city scorched earth.

I doubt they care much. It's not like All In's going to make much, if any money. I doubt the people traveling are going to want to spend a ton on WWE after spending a lot on plane tickets for literally one show. The venue's already sold out, which likely means a house of something just south of $1 million. It's already made a good deal of money, unless the feeling is that it'll lose too much in added production value? I don't think they'll lose money, but I do wonder how much they have to pay Okada (though it's none of my business) and pay Gedo/Kidani to use Okada. I'm assuming the rest of the guys are working cheap (and it wouldn't surprise me if Scurll/Page/Kenny are working it free of charge), but I get the feeling NJPW would want compensated well for the use of their Ultra-Ace.

Lemme get this straight... Yall think that Vince isn't gonna use Lesnar to beat Punk's title length and yet yall think he's still petty enough to counter All In? I can't blame Vince for wanting the record to belong to someone who wasn't a career MMA loser.

I know. It’s not a record. You just know he's eventually going to put out a t-shirt with some sort of vinyl reference making light of this. If only people would hand me money-making opportunities that easily.

Nothing’s scheduled for that date at the moment, but a key thing to note looking at those upcoming events is that the RAW roster is once again racking up the flyer miles and going to London for a house show on the 29th. It never bloody stops, does it?
I'm going. What does that clash with?

The show isn't getting less sold out. Why would they bother?

August 29? Nothing airs on that day other than the taped shows NXT and Main Event, so I don’t think it clashes with anything, wrestling-wise.

I desperately want All In to be clicking along & have “No Chance” hit, Vince to strut down to the ring & tell everyone they’re fired to end the show.
