It's too bad, because Cass has been totally fine since coming back. He's said some goofy stuff, but he's trying pretty hard to actually convincingly talk and act with all the criticism he had for being the rigid tall dude behind Enzo all his career.

Part of me wonders if Cass was supposed to win the Bryan match and this was Bryan's revenge for that because it makes more sense when you think about it. Cass wins the match, Cass interferes in Bryan's match, Cass comes out here and insults Bryan and then Bryan let's loose on him like tonight. It's similar to that time HBK screwed Bryan and Bryan attacked him on Raw.

As much shit as we give Road Dogg for saying it, for some guys wins and losses really don't matter. Guys like Joe, Jericho, and Miz can have more losses than wins but still remain over and credible because their character work more than covers for it. I'd put Elias in that group, as well. And Rusev, now that I think about it. He's more or less been a jobber to the stars for two years, but with his charisma and being built like a tank if you pushed him to the world title by SummerSlam people would buy it.

I wouldn’t really consider him a wrestler at this point he’s more a musician/troll who occasionally sports entertains.

Getting his ass kicked rather decisively by Bryan and then (presumably) being fed to Samoa Joe next week seems like it. One side thing that kind of gets me based on the reactions in the live thread... That Backlash match has done very little, if anything, to hurt Samoa Joe's credibility. His promo ability seems to be able to cover for any particularly notable losses. The only thing that would hurt Joe (IMO) is if he started inexplicably acting like a typical cowardly WWE heel... which is something he's not.

You know damn well WWE monitor this board, we do not want to put those kinds of ideas in their head!

In the annals of "Why didn't this guy end up being a big star?" Big Cass will stand out amid the myriad of people sank by backstage politics, office ineptitude, humiliating gimmicks, unfortunately timed injuries, and unbearable ego as "the guy who needed to fake beat up a dwarf so bad he killed his push to do it". And I think that's a beautiful thing./

Still not entirely convinced this is the total write-off of him everyone seems to think (mostly because if they were doing that, why have him lay out Bryan at Backlash to begin with?) but the name of the video does seem to be throwing some shade.

You know what's actually a horrible thought occurring to me now? What if now that the news is out, they've decided to try and swerve us by having Big Cass win the feud in the end when we think he's in the doghouse, and then go on to beat Bryan like two or three more times before getting a US title run or some shit? Because I think that little of this company right now.

Cass will be back on his main event path within 2-3 months because he's tall and his beliefs reportedly match those of management, both things that can care you a long way in wrestling.

I can't remember if I've ever seen this company book a small dude to actually beat the shit out of a big man in a non-match situation like this, with no weapons or cheating or anything that wouldn't be with in the parameters of a fair fight.
Bryan's pretty much made his WWE career out of being the guy who gets his ass beat in these types of segments nearly every week for a build. So, it's just standing out that Big Cass got no offense here, and just got dissected in short order by Daniel Bryan, who has made millions being the guy who would be laid in out this situation every other time.

Yeah, I mean, can any of us reference Elias's win/loss record on the main roster? Without looking it up? I sure as hell can't, and memory basically distorts it to his trolling appearances, 2 good Rumble appearances and beating Seth Rollins. Basically, the character work is so good, he's hit Godfather levels where he is seen as over and a big deal and his w/l doesn't matter. Although I did just check Godfathers TV record for 1999 and it was 41-13-5 or there abouts, with much of those 13 losses coming in November/December. No wonder Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho's wins over him on RAW felt like a big deal.

It feels like Big Cass is about to be sent off to the land of big and tall guys that are mostly forgotten now; like Heidenreich, Kurrgan, Luther Reigns, Matt Morgan, etc. Not trying to disrespect the deceased by saying this but the name Big Cass is right up there with Test in the great ideas for names department. Maybe he’ll end up in Japan. Give him a new name and a new start. It worked for Lance Hoyt and he was previously called Dallas in TNA.

"Took liberties with a man with dwarfism" has to be the single most hilarious and bizarre reason for a push disappearing in recent memory when you say it out loud.

Heel v Heel for the final MITB spot is a little odd and Bryan doesn't have a match for the event so I'll make the prediction that Bryan does a run in next week but botches his strike for Cass costing Joe the match (or gets Joe disqualified after being unable to resist Cass goading about his family pre match). Cass goes into MITB (won't win but his size means some decent spots) and Bryan v Joe as a singles match is added to the card.

Nah, Joe will wax Cass next week. I mean he has to. Joe needs a win over someone. Cass can then have another match with Bryan at MITB and job out again.

Joe's promo on Cass last night was a little face-ish (at the very least he came off as a tweener), but that could just be for the match next week as even Baron Corbin worked face for a match on SD a couple months ago. Either way, yes, give me Joe vs. Bryan!
