In a major promotion at least. Jesus I was watching Russo's first Nitro over some perverse curiosity. (Not that bad) but the David Flair match woof. Poor bastard also got a knee to the head with Kidman's SSP too.

He was okay for someone who never wanted to be a wrestler and had 6 weeks training put in that role.
But yeah he was no better than that.

Erik Watts was quite shitty as well.
David Flair was at least entertaining with Crowbar and Daffney.

The differences in passion and in-ring charisma between David and Charlotte Flair are mind blowing. He always looked like he wanted to be somewhere else.

Everyone wants to point to that one botched dropkick .gif of his, but Erik was otherwise competent. Not great, barely good, but still competent, and he got better as time went on.

I've always wondered if the Eric Watts that wrestled in TNA for a bit is the same Eric Watts that everyone makes fun of?
And David Flair epitomized WCW in the year 2000.

There's a general sliding scale for criticized second generation sons of wrestlers:
-Greg Gagne (solid and capable of great on occasion) -Erik Watts (competent, and sometimes okayish) -David Sammartino (not embarrassing, that's about it) -David Flair (totally lousy, but had his moments) -George Gulas (destroyed his father's territory)

It makes me wonder what would have come if Reid had not had his issues. He was a genuine lifelong athlete and actually wanted to be a wrestler. Makes it all the sadder.

Well that's because he wanted to be somewhere else. I felt he was only doing it to make his dad happy but it wasn't what he wanted to do. Charlotte wanted to do it and so did Reid.

I haven't seen enough of George Gulas to know but I can't imagine he would be worse than David Flair. If nothing else he was wrestling a bunch of mediocre 1970s era territory guys and not friggin Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit. For my money David Flair is the worst wrestler I've ever seen, if one could even call him a wrestler at all. But then he was a former U.S. champion and tag champ, so on some level he counts as an actual wrestler. But he's the absolute worst and his dad couldn't keep him even in WWE developmental for long due to his obvious lack of anything resembling talent. I would coincide David's initial "push" as a wrestler with WCW's utter free fall in quality and popularity in 1999.
Ha, Erik Watts? Watts was a mostly competent pro wrestler that didn't have any experience. He at least seemed like a trained athlete.

And wasn't he dating stacy keebler or tori at the time? No, I don't feel bad for him...

I thought Charlotte said she really didn't want to do it and more so stuck with it after Reid passed away
I believe she got signed in 2012 and didn't her first match on TV until a few months after he died

Really nice guy, actually. Nice enough that my sister had a bit of a crush on him for a while. Had a dog of a match with Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker on the show, though.
