Nice of Robbie Williams to remind us that even though his SoccerAid game the other day raised millions for charity, he’s still a c***. What did he do? I didn't even bother watching the game.

Still, I would take Robbie over trash like Pitbull.

I figured Saudi Arabia would draw against Russia as a fluke, but instead I feel like none of these players will be allowed to play on Arabian soil after this.
But that's what happens when you feast on cupcakes.

With Uruguay and Egypt still to play, Saudi Arabia might look fondly on only losing 5-0 soon. In that match, the Saudis were that sumo guy in the Saudi rumble, and Russia was Mark Henry. No, the Saudis were Mike Bennett and Russia looked like Daniel Bryan.

Egypt v Uruguay should be fun today. Morocco/Iran attrition. And Portugal/Spain, Spain would be favorites unless something nuts happened and they sacked their manag..oh. Nah, I think Portugal could go far in this tournament. Hah, the analogy works because I expect Russia will be eliminated as easily as Mark Henry was. Just that sumo guy was even worse.

World Cup results determine my fantasy (American) football draft order this year, so here I am cheering for my randomly assigned Croatia.

I got my work dream team, heavily tilted with Brazilians, Germans, Argentinians, and a few Colombians. SO that is where my support will be for now. Id like to see England do well but I don't really benefit from that.

Mo Salah starts on the bench for Egypt, Suarez and Cavani up top for Uruguay.

Egypt about to play their first World Cup game since a 1-0 loss to England in 1990.

A lot of empty seats in this stadium. I’ve seen 205 Live crowds in Corpus Christi more packed.
(Of course, this would likely be down to high ticket prices)

Scores still locked up at 0-0 going into the half time break. If anything, Egypt have had the slight upper hand.

Egypt not using their ace Salah today, having used all three subs now. Still no score.

...Although Uruguay unleash a thunderbastard that required a full stretch dive from the Egypt goalie to keep it out.

Uruguay free kick denied by the post! They’re coming home with the momentum here.

And in the 89th minute, Uruguay steal it! Giminez with the header!

There's the goal for Uruguay at the 89 minute mark. You've got to feel a little sorry for Egypt here.

Uruguay take it 1-0. First opening game win for the South Americans since 1970.
Up next... The first game for Group B, Morocco v Iran.
